Job Description
**DevOps Engineer**
**£60,000 – £75,000 \+ 7% Bonus \& Benefits**
**Staines\-upon\-Thames**
**Hybrid, 2 days a week in office**
A SaaS business that's grown from 30 to 100\+ people in four years is looking for a hands\-on DevOps Engineer to join a team of eight, building and shipping the Azure platform that sits at the heart of a key UK industry.
This is a builder's role, not a strategist's. You'll spend your days inside pipelines, containers, and Bicep, not running migrations or owning governance frameworks. If your idea of a good week is improving deployment reliability, getting a new AKS workload live, or refactoring an IaC module so the next environment provisions in half the time, this is the role for you.
**What you'll be doing**
* Building, maintaining and improving Azure Pipelines (YAML and Classic) for .NET applications.
* Writing and modularising Infrastructure as Code in Bicep (or ARM), owning environment lifecycle from dev through to production.
* Deploying and managing Docker containers (Linux and Windows) on Azure Kubernetes Service.
* Scripting automation in PowerShell, embedding security and quality gates into pipelines.
* Working alongside developers to ship faster, safer, more reliably, inside a documented Agile/Scrum environment.
**What we're looking for**
This role is for the engineer who lives inside the build\-and\-ship side of DevOps, not the broad cloud\-operations side. To be specific:
* Hands\-on AKS and Kubernetes in a production environment. Not theoretical, not "willing to learn." If your container experience is Docker on a VM, this isn't the role.
* Real\-world Bicep or ARM, building it, modularising it, owning the environment lifecycle.
* Strong Azure Pipelines chops, day\-in day\-out CI/CD work.
* Confident in PowerShell, Azure Git, and the wider Azure stack (Azure SQL, CosmosDB, App Services, Key Vault).
* Comfortable inside a process\-driven, documentation\-heavy environment.
**Nice to have**
* .NET application context.
* Security and quality tooling in pipelines (Veracode, SonarCloud, CodeQL, Trivy, SonarQube).
* Monitoring and observability (Application Insights, Datadog, Azure Log Analytics).
**This probably isn't the right role if**
You're a broad\-spectrum cloud or platform engineer whose strength is tenant migrations, networking, security posture, or running enterprise programmes. That work has real value, it just isn't this job. This is a focused engineering seat inside an existing team.
**The package**
£60k–£75k depending on experience, 7% bonus, on\-call rota roughly one week in six (minimal actual out\-of\-hours work), two days a week in the Staines/Egham office, the rest from home.
**Why this one**
You'll join a business owned by one of the UK's biggest household names but run as its own standalone operation, which gives you the security of scale with none of the corporate sludge. They've won awards for being a great place to work, sustainability and giving back are taken seriously, and the tenure across the team tells you the culture is real, not posted on the careers page.
