# DevOps Engineer — Part-Time (Remote, Lahore-Based)

Company: Linvex Solutions

Location: Remote, but must be based in Lahore (occasional on-site at our Bahria Town office)

Type: Part-time, approx. 10–15 hours/week

Reports to: CEO / Senior Backend Developer

---

## About Us

Linvex Solutions is an AI and software company registered in the UK and Pakistan, building products for international markets. You'll be joining the team behind our flagship AI product — an agentic platform currently pre-launch and heading towards public release. This is a chance to own the infrastructure of a real product from the ground up, not babysit someone else's legacy mess.

## The Role

We have a small, fast-moving engineering team shipping an AI-heavy product. What we don't have is someone who owns deployments, environments, monitoring and infrastructure cost. That's you.

You'll set up and run the pipeline that takes code from a developer's branch to production safely, keep staging and production environments clean and separate, make sure we know about problems before users do, and keep our cloud and AI API spend under control. You'll work directly with the backend and frontend developers and report straight to the CEO.

This is a hands-on, high-ownership role. There is no DevOps team — you are the DevOps function.

## What You'll Do

  • Own the AWS architecture end to end — design it, document it, evolve it as the product scales from pre-launch to production traffic
  • Manage and optimise our AWS infrastructure — compute, networking, database and storage — with cost and reliability in mind
  • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or similar) for our web app and backend services
  • Manage environments: local, staging and production, with clean separation and sane promotion flow
  • Set up monitoring, logging and alerting (uptime, error rates, latency, job queues) so failures surface immediately
  • Own secrets and credentials management — no keys in repos, ever
  • Track and control infrastructure and LLM API costs — flag spend anomalies before they become invoices
  • Implement backup and recovery for production data, and actually test the restores
  • Harden security basics: HTTPS everywhere, dependency scanning, access control, least privilege
  • Support the developers with environment issues, deploy failures and tooling friction
  • Document everything you build so the team isn't dependent on your memory

## What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years of hands-on DevOps / infrastructure experience (start-up or small-team experience strongly preferred)
  • Deep, hands-on AWS expertise — this is non-negotiable. EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch and load balancing as a baseline, with a genuine architect-level understanding: you can design a secure, cost-efficient AWS architecture from scratch, justify every component choice, and own it in production
  • Able to act as our AWS architect, not just an operator — when the team asks "how should this be deployed?", you have the answer and the reasoning behind it
  • Experience operating LLM-powered or pipeline-heavy products — queue-based job processing, API rate limits and cost control; our workload is agents and data pipelines, not CRUD
  • Strong with Linux, Git, and CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or similar)
  • Experience deploying and operating Node.js/JavaScript applications in production
  • Solid PostgreSQL operational knowledge — backups, migrations, connection pooling, performance basics
  • Scripting ability (Bash, Python or Node) for automation
  • Security-minded by default — you treat secrets, access and user data with care
  • Clear written communication — you document decisions and explain trade-offs without jargon
  • Based in Lahore and able to come into our Bahria Town office when needed (roughly once or twice a month, plus onboarding)

## Nice to Have

  • Docker / containerisation experience (ECS or similar a plus)
  • Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or CloudFormation)
  • AWS cost-optimisation experience — budgets, alerts, right-sizing, reserved/spot instances
  • Experience with web scraping or data-pipeline infrastructure at scale
  • Prior part-time, consulting or fractional engagements — you know how to be effective in limited hours

## How We Work

  • Part-time, approx. 10–15 hours/week with flexible scheduling, but we expect reliable overlap with our core hours (10am–7pm PKT) and reasonable responsiveness if production breaks
  • Remote-first, with occasional on-site sessions in Bahria Town, Lahore
  • Small team, no bureaucracy, direct access to the CEO
  • We value ownership, honesty about trade-offs, and shipping over polishing

## Compensation

Competitive monthly retainer based on experience, paid in PKR. Share your expected monthly rate with your application.

## How to Apply

Email your CV to info@linvex.ai with the subject line "DevOps — Part-Time". Include:

  • A short note (five sentences max) on the worst production incident you've handled and what you changed afterwards
  • A one-paragraph description of an AWS architecture you designed yourself — what it ran, which services you chose and why
  • Your expected monthly rate for 10–15 hours/week
  • Your availability and notice period

We read every application. No cover letters required.
