DevOps Engineer

**DevOps Engineer** We are representing a business who build and run payment infrastructure. Their platform orchestrates payment transactions across dozens of processes. Their card tokenisation service keeps sensitive card data out of merchant systems under full PCI DSS compliance. The CRM platform ties it all together for sales marketing and support teams. **The role:** You will be the person responsible for how their software gets deployed and run in production. Reporting directly to the CIO, you will have the autonomy to shape infrastructure decisions and the visibility to see their impact across the business. You will work closely with backend engineers to keep deployment smooth, environments consistent and production systems reliable and secure. This is a hands\-on role. You will spend your time in Terraform, Kubernetes manifests and CI/CD pipeline configs – not in meetings about them. **What you will be responsible for:** * Ensuring the production, Kubernetes environments are reliable and cost effective. * Building and maintaining CICD pipelines that let engineers ship with confidence. * Managing infrastructure as code for the GCP environments with particular focus on PCI compliance systems. * Keeping the local development environments working so engineers can run the full stack on their machines. * Improving observability, making sure they know about the problems before their customers do. * Supporting PCI\-DSS compliance at the infrastructure level, network segmentation, secret management, access controls and audit readiness. **What you will need:** * Production Kubernetes experience (they run GQE) * Terraform for managing cloud infrastructure * CI/CD Pipeline design (they use Google Cloud Build and GitHub Actions) * Solid networking fundamentals: DNS, TLS/mTLS, load balancing, VPCs, firewalls * Docker and container lifecycle management * GitOps delivery (they use ArgoCD and Kustomize) * Comfort working in a terminal with Git\-based workflows **What will set you apart:** * Experience with Istio or another service mesh * Familiarity with PCI\-DSS or similar compliance frameworks * GCP services: KMS, Cloud Armor, Binary Authorization, Datastore * Enough Go or PHP to read a build config and debug a service issue * Local Kubernetes development tooling (they use Tilt) * Monitoring with Prometheus and Grafana **What they value beyond technical skills:** * Clear communication – you’ll need to explain infrastructure decisions to engineers and leadership alike * A bias toward automation over manual process * Willingness to own problems end\-to\-end rather than pass between teams * Pragmatism – knowing when something is good enough and when it needs to be bulletproof **What they offer:** * Direct reporting line into the CIO with real influence over infrastructure direction * Autonomy to make decisions about tooling and architecture * Work on systems that process real payments – the kind of infrastructure challenges matter
