We are hiring an
**Internal DevOps Engineer (Developer Experience)**
to improve engineering productivity, streamline build/test/release workflows and enhance the reliability of internal tooling and development platforms. This role suits someone analytical, systems‑focused and able to design solutions that remove friction for engineers while maintaining high standards of quality, testing and automation.
**About the Role**
You will focus on improving how engineering teams build, test and deploy software. This includes developing internal tools, optimising CI/CD pipelines, improving test reliability, supporting automation and enhancing developer workflows end‑to‑end. You’ll work closely with developers, testers, architects and product teams to create scalable, secure and observable development environments.
Testing is a core part of this role. You will help ensure pipelines, tooling and automation are robust, reliable and thoroughly validated, with a strong emphasis on improving both functional and non‑functional test coverage across the engineering lifecycle.
**Key Responsibilities**
* Design and implement developer tooling, automation scripts and internal platforms.
* Improve CI/CD pipelines for scalability, reliability, testability and performance.
* Enhance build, test and release workflows, ensuring high quality and low friction.
* Implement and maintain automated tests for internal tools, scripts and pipelines.
* Ensure test environments, pipelines and tooling are stable, observable and reliable.
* Debug and optimise build/test failures, flaky tests and pipeline bottlenecks.
* Collaborate with engineering teams to embed best practices and raise engineering standards.
* Develop reusable tooling and shared libraries to reduce duplication across teams.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives with a strong focus on testing quality.
* Contribute to performance and reliability tuning across developer platforms.
**Technical Skills and Experience**
* Strong understanding of
**CI/CD pipelines**
, build systems and deployment automation.
* Hands‑on experience with
**containerisation and orchestration**
(Docker, Kubernetes).
* Solid experience writing and maintaining
**automated tests**
for tools, scripts or pipelines.
* Ability to design, test and optimise internal platforms that support development workflows.
* Skilled in diagnosing build/test failures, improving reliability and reducing flaky tests.
* Familiarity with test automation frameworks or scripting for testing internal services.
* Ability to create observable systems with clear metrics, logging and alerting.
* Experience optimising developer workflows and improving engineering productivity.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to influence technical decisions across teams.

**Salary \& Working Model**
* Approx £43K
* Remote‑first role with occasional onsite collaboration days.
