Job Title: Data Scientist (Contract)
Duration: 6 months
Position Type: Contract (Hybrid – North York, ON) Reports To: Director, Data Science
Role Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Contract Data Scientist to drive operational efficiency and modernization. In this role, you will develop Python-based automation scripts to eliminate manual workflows and collaborate closely with our Product team to build out a robust AWS data lake framework. Your work will directly ensure seamless data access for automation, advanced analytics, and strategic insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Process Automation:
Review manual production workflows and design, build, and troubleshoot automation scripts and tools using Python.
- Data Lake Architecture:
Collaborate with Product Data Architects to design a scalable AWS Data Lake, ensuring structures support reporting, analytics, and automation needs.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with Research, Operations, and Product teams to identify automation opportunities and assist the Data Science team with modeling and ad-hoc tasks.
- Enablement:
Document automated processes and provide training and support to internal team members.
Skills \& Qualifications
- Education:
Undergraduate degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
- Experience:
5–7 years of proven experience building automation scripts and working with automation frameworks. *

Languages:
Python (Expert), SQL/Oracle (Proficient), R (Working Knowledge).
- AWS Ecosystem:
Deep familiarity with Lambda, S3, Glue, Redshift, and Neptune.
- Core Tools:
Advanced Excel Power User (including VBA) and MS Office Suite.
- Data Mastery:
Strong knowledge of data architecture, database management, data extraction, and ETL/transformation processes.
- Analytics \& ML:
Solid understanding of statistical modeling and machine learning techniques for data-driven insights.
- Soft Skills:
Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong communication skills to present complex technical results to diverse audiences.
- Asset:
Prior knowledge or experience in radio/television marketing is a strong plus.
