**Position Summary**
The Data Scientist will be part of the Data team, within the Digital function in OrganOx. OrganOx's Data team is changing the way OrganOx operates around data, increasing efficiencies and enabling teams to deliver data\-based solutions to make every organ count. The Data Scientist will deliver a collection of Data assets for OrganOx, according to strategic priorities and organisational needs. The assets will include (but not be limited to):
* End\-to\-end Predictive Machine Learning Models on different domains
* Advanced analysis for key projects, supporting critical projects in the organisation
* Develop root cause analysis for specific organisational domains
* Technological solutions in the data realm to support a variety of stakeholders
Being part of a small team, the Data Scientist will show a flexible approach to problem solving and the capacity to be hands on in all the steps of the data development cycle (such as, requirement capture, problem framing, data cleansing, ML pilot development, model serving, data graphics, final reporting). It is expected that the Data Scientist will follow the Data Team ways of working, as well as contributing to the development and improvement of the ways of working and wider data culture at OrganOx.
This is an on\-site position in Oxford UK, with flexibility, the ensure stakeholder engagement with Engineering, Quality and other relevant business units.
Listed below are the major responsibilities of the role and a brief description of some of the key tasks to be performed. This list is not totally exhaustive.
**Major Responsibilities**
Under direction from the Data Science Functional Lead, the Data Scientist will be responsible for:
* Own the development of ML models producing business\-related predictions
* Responsible for the delivery of a diverse range of Analytics projects (e.g.: Root Cause analysis, Causal analysis, Hypothesis testing, advanced visualisations) to answer specific business questions, contributing to data led decisions across the business
* Act as the advocate and point of reference for good data practices
* Responsible for the production of quality documentation where appropriate
* Ensure that the Data Team ways of working are followed and contribute to their review and improvement
* Proactively stay up to date with technology developments within Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence
* Adhere to the letter and spirit of OrganOx's Code of Conduct and all other company policies
**Requirements**
**Skills \& Experience**
**Essential:**
* Proven related Data Science / Software Development / Analytics work experience
* Training in Mathematical and Statistical Foundations, including sampling, distributions, and signal processing
* Well\-established experience implementing ML models
* Proven track record in developing solutions using Python and SQL
* Familiarity with (having been involved in at least a project covering) software development techniques and development lifecycle (modular design, Continuous Integration/ Continuous Development, testing...)
* Critical thinking; 1\) show evidence and reason through scenarios in which standard box solutions could not apply to a problem; 2\) Show evidence of applying domain\-knowledge to a problem to frame correctly and simplify a technical solution.
* Previous experience of dynamic project scenarios, for example, development work starting early (before clear requirements are set), leading to a collection of changes during different implementation phases.
**Desirable:**
* Comfortable presenting results to technical and non\-technical audiences in written and verbal form (online articles, reports, conferences, etc).
* Able to demonstrate development of 1 or more projects in PySpark.
* Demonstrable experience of development of ML that got served to a live platform and run in a continuous manner from a data feed
* Proven ability relating to Machine Learning models in TensorFlow or Pytorch
* Previous exposure to a software or Machine Learning project under an Agile environment.
* Able to evidence experience of an ML project having used a model from a public repository (githb, hugging face...) as a starting point.
* Proven ability and experience in analytics / ML projects in Databricks and/or MS Azure
* Familiarity with Gen AI working frameworks
* Conceptual understanding and application of automatic data ingestion pipeline from different sources for data projects in cloud environments.
**Qualifications**
* Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or equivalent technical qualification
* Ability to travel up to 10 %
