Job Description We are looking for a highly motivated and curious Data Coordinator to join our team and help facilitate our ocean research through improved data management of our unique observational datasets. In this role, you will work at the intersection of oceanography, data science, and environmental research, helping to transform raw data towards quality controlled and findable datasets that ultimately support scientific research and decision-making.

You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary group of highly supportive scientists and students. Your work will contribute to improving our understanding of ocean dynamics, and the impacts of our ocean on climate variability.

This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about both scientific exploration and advanced analytics, and is eager to work with diverse oceanographic datasets, ranging from in-situ ocean robotics to ship observations.

If you are driven by curiosity, enjoy working with data at scale, and want your work to contribute to a deeper understanding of the ocean and its role in the Earth system, we would be excited to hear from you.

More specifically, the data scientist within the Polar Gliders research group, will be responsible for the care of all aspects related to data, quality control of data (with input from scientists) and our server management. There may be opportunities to travel (project meetings, cruise planning meetings and workshops) through the diverse ongoing projects, including the ERC projects WHIRLS (www.whirls.eu) and SOFIA, which have partners spanning France, Germany and South Africa.
