**Job Title: Data Scientist (Data Science/SAS/Python/SQL/AWS)** **Location: Toronto, ON** **Duration: Contract (Hybrid)** Role Descriptions: We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist to lead the conversion of legacy SAS codebases to Python using generative and agentic AI tooling. In this role\| you will leverage agentic AI tools to analyze existing SAS programs\| interpret their business logic\| statistical methods\| and data transformations and direct those tools to produce accurate\| well\-tested Python equivalents. You will conduct rigorous code reviews of AI\-generated outputs\| perform numerical validation against original SAS results\| and thoroughly document conversion decisions\| statistical equivalencies\| and any deviations from the original logic.You will work closely with a data platform engineer to execute conversions within a shared migration framework while surfacing requirements that inform framework design. You will also identify and escalate ambiguities in source code to business and model owners as needed.1\.Required Qualifications3 years of data science experience in a professional settingProficiency in SAS (base SAS\| PROC SQL\| SAS Macros\| SASSTAT\| SASETS\| SAS Enterprise Guide\| etc.)Proficiency in Python for data science and modelling (pandas\| numpy\| scikit\-learn\| statsmodels\| scipy\| etc.)Familiarity with SQL and interacting with data stored in remotecloud infrastructure (e.g.\| AWS S3\| any SQL DBMS\| or similar)Proficiency in collaborative version control with GitExperience using agentic coding assistants or LLM\-based tools (e.g.\| Claude Code\| GitHub Copilot) in a professional setting2\.Preferred Qualifications Background in regulated or enterprise environments where SAS is commonly used (pharma\| finance\| insurance\| government)Experience working in a UNIX environmentFamiliarity with credit risk models (PD\| EAD\| LGD) and IFRS9 regulatory requirements3\.Key ResponsibilitiesLeverage agentic AI to analyze and interpret existing SAS programs to understand business logic\| statistical methods\| and data transformationsDirect agentic AI to generate Python equivalents of the above and corresponding tests that ensure correctness and business alignmentPerform extensive code reviews of generated code to ensure correctness and business alignment\| including numerical validation of outputs against original SAS outputsDocument conversion decisions\| statistical equivalencies\| and any deviations from original logicIdentify and document ambiguities in original SAS code\| escalating to business and model owners as needed Collaborate closely with a data platform engineer to perform conversions within the shared migration framework and surface requirements that inform platform design. ***Best Regards* ,** Karunakar Apptoza Inc.
