Job Description
We are seeking a Corporate Legal Counsel to join our team in Harley, ON, reporting directly to the VP of Corporate Services. In this role, you will provide strategic and practical legal support across our organization, including precast manufacturing, construction, and real estate development operations.
You will act as a key advisor to senior leadership, helping to manage legal risk, ensure regulatory compliance, and support complex commercial and project\-based transactions. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of construction and development environments, along with the ability to balance legal considerations with business objectives.
**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**
* Serve as the primary legal advisor on corporate, construction, and real estate matters
* Provide guidance to leadership on legal implications of strategic and operational decisions
* Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and contractual risks across projects
* Participate in the drafting of a wide range of agreements, including engineering, procurement, construction, and partnership contracts
* Maintain and improve contract templates, processes, and agreement tracking systems
* Ensure compliance with corporate regulations
* Support corporate governance activities, including board matters and statutory records
* Provide legal support across project lifecycles—from planning and tendering to execution and closeout
* Assist with claims management, contract changes and disputes
* Liaise with external counsel, consultants, and regulatory bodies
* Support land acquisitions, project due diligence, and development transactions
* Develop internal policies and deliver training on contract best practices and legal compliance
**WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR**
* LL.B or J.D. and admission to practice law in Ontario
* 5–10 years of post\-call experience, ideally within construction, real estate development, or manufacturing
* Strong knowledge of standard construction contracts (e.g., CCDC, ACEC\-Ontario, stipulated price contracts)
* Experience with project financing, permitting, and land transactions would be an asset
* Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills
* Strong commercial judgment with the ability to balance risk and business priorities
* High integrity, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently in a fast\-paced environment
* Experience or familiarity with labour relations and employment law is considered an asset
