Job Description
Civil Engineer / Senior Civil Engineer
Location: Siliguri, West Bengal
Employment Type: Full-time
Experience Level: Entry to Mid-Level (3–6 years)
Job Summary
We are looking for a dedicated and technically sound Civil Engineer to supervise daily construction operations on our project site in Siliguri. You will be the primary anchor on the ground, converting blueprint drawings into physical reality. Your main focus will be setting out layouts, supervising labor, monitoring material consumption, and ensuring that structural and finishing work is executed flawlessly and safely.
Key Responsibilities
- On-Site Supervision \& Technical Execution
Supervise daily structural civil works (excavation, shuttering, reinforcement binding, concreting) and finishing works (brickwork, plastering, tiling).
Interpret structural, architectural, and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) drawings accurately and execute them on-site.
Perform precise site layouts, leveling, and marking using surveying instruments (such as a Total Station or Auto Level).
- Quality Control \& Material Tracking
Conduct mandatory on-site quality tests (concrete slump tests, cube casting for compressive strength testing, silt content tests for sand).
Maintain accurate Daily Progress Reports (DPR), material consumption logs, and labor attendance sheets.
Perform joint measurements with sub-contractors and verify bar bending schedules (BBS) to minimize steel wastage.
- Resource Coordination \& Monsoon Adaptation
Directly manage site supervisors, masons, and local labor forces to hit daily productivity targets.
Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure sand, aggregate, cement, and steel are stocked ahead of time, accounting for regional logistical delays during the heavy North Bengal monsoon.
Required Skills \& Qualifications
Education: B.Tech / B.E. or Diploma in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
Experience: 3 to 6 years of solid, hands-on site execution experience in residential high-rises, commercial buildings, or infrastructure.
Technical Skills:
Excellent ability to read and interpret complex structural and architectural drawings.
Proficiency in calculating material quantities (concrete volume, brick counts, plaster areas, and steel reinforcement weights).
Basic handling of AutoCAD and MS Excel for daily reporting.
Language \& Communication: Fluency in Bengali or Hindi is mandatory to effectively manage and communicate instructions to local site laborers and sub-contractors.
Physical Stamina: Willingness to work in varying outdoor weather conditions common to the North Bengal region
