Civil Engineer

Working pattern: remote (occasional visits to site in Helensburgh)

Altrad are currently looking for a driven Civil Engineer to join the team.

About the role:

We are looking for an experienced Civil Engineer to support the technical capability of the Design Authority (DA). This role will be suited to engineers with experience in Civil design.

Key Deliverables:

  • Technical excellence in the specification, production and assessment of design packages for infrastructure.
  • Specification of reliability and operational constraints for infrastructure.
  • Assessment of work control procedures for maintenance of infrastructure.
  • Assessment of infrastructure design, material state, qualification and ageing mechanisms to permit the continued operation of facilities and utilities.
  • Discharge and display a robust safety and security culture.
  • Ensure outputs of safety related contracts meet the contract requirements and appropriate safety requirements by acting as an intelligent customer.

Key Requirements / Qualifications:

*Essential*

  • Experience in the design assessment of reinforced concrete and steelwork structures to withstand dynamic loads including; earthquake motions, blast, wind, rain and snow loading
  • Experience working on reinforced concrete and steelwork marine structures and jetties.
  • Experience of producing robust technical justification to allow for relevant civil/structural design modifications to be authorised within a high hazard industry
  • Apply appropriate theoretical and practical methods to design, develop, manufacture, construct, commission, operate, maintain, decommission and re-cycle engineering processes, systems, services and products in a nuclear/high risk environment
  • Use a combination of general and specialist engineering knowledge and understanding to apply existing and emerging technology
  • Civil/Structural Engineering degree
  • Incorporated engineer (or equivalent experience)

*Desirable*

  • Ideal candidates would already have experience within a similar nuclear environment, but this is not essential
  • Familiarity with safety case development techniques e.g. HAZID/HAZOP studies.
  • Chartered engineer (or equivalent experience)
