Job Description
We are seeking an experienced
Chief Accountant
to join our finance team at a leading road contracting and infrastructure group in the UAE.
The successful candidate will report directly to the CFO and lead a finance team of approximately 40 professionals across multiple companies within the Group.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the complete accounting function across multiple entities within the Group.
- Lead month-end and year-end closing activities and ensure timely preparation of financial statements and management reports.
- Oversee General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Payroll, Treasury, and Cash Flow Management.
- Ensure accurate accounting of contracting and infrastructure projects, including:
- Job Costing
- Work-in-Progress (WIP) Reporting
- Contract Revenue Recognition
- Retention Accounting
- Cost Control and Project Profitability Analysis
- Coordinate with project teams, procurement, estimation, and operations departments to ensure proper financial control of projects.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance monitoring.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS, UAE VAT regulations, company policies, and statutory requirements.
- Coordinate with external auditors, banks, and regulatory authorities.
- Strengthen internal controls and improve accounting processes and reporting systems.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, CMA, CA) is an advantage.
- Minimum 10 years of accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a senior accounting position within a contracting, construction, infrastructure, or project-based organization.
- Strong knowledge of project accounting, job costing, WIP reporting, retention accounting, and contract accounting.
- Experience managing accounting operations for multiple companies and large-scale projects.
- Advanced ERP experience (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics/Navision, or equivalent).
- Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Industry Experience
Road Contracting, Infrastructure, Civil Construction, Utilities, Manufacturing, Industrial Projects, or EPC Contracting.
