Job Description
We are looking for an AWS Cloud Operations Engineer to run, monitor and support our cloud-native platform on AWS. The platform hosts a high-traffic, multi-market mobile super-app and is moving from self-managed, on-premises infrastructure to AWS managed services (Amazon EKS, RDS / Aurora PostgreSQL, Amazon API Gateway, managed messaging and caching).
You will keep production and non-production environments healthy, respond to incidents, and continuously improve reliability, observability, automation and cost-efficiency. Hands-on operational AWS experience is essential. Solution-architecture and migration exposure are strong advantages that will let you grow into platform design and cutover leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor and maintain AWS workloads across Dev, QA, Pre-Prod and Production,
ensuring availability, performance and cost-efficiency.
- Respond to incidents and alerts, perform root-cause analysis, and drive corrective and
preventive actions that reduce mean time to recovery.
- Manage containerized workloads on Amazon EKS — deployments, scaling, health checks and
self-healing/restart policies.
- Administer managed data services (Amazon RDS / Aurora PostgreSQL, ElastiCache, Amazon MQ) and supporting databases, including backups and restores.
- Build and maintain proactive monitoring, alerting and dashboards; expand observability
coverage and eliminate reactive, user-reported detection.
- Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/ CloudFormation) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Apply and uphold security and compliance controls IAM, WAF, network segmentation,
patching and key management.
- Support the migration of workloads from on premises to AWS and contribute to runbooks and
operational documentation.
- Collaborate with application, QA and security teams across multiple markets and time zones.
Essential Requirements (Mandatory)
- Proven operational experience running production workloads on AWS — day-to-day administration, monitoring, troubleshooting and support of live AWS services. This is the core, non-negotiable requirement for the role.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of core AWS services: EC2 / EKS, VPC and networking, IAM, S3, CloudWatch and RDS.
- Solid Linux administration skills and hands-on experience with containers (Docker, Kubernetes / EKS).
- Demonstrated incident management and root-cause analysis in a live production environment.
- Working knowledge of Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD concepts and tooling.
- Competent scripting / automation ability (e.g. Bash, Python).
- Clear communication and the ability to work effectively across distributed teams.
Advantageous (Strong Plus Points — Not Mandatory
)
- AWS solution architecture: designing scalable, resilient and cost-optimized AWS architectures (AWS Certified Solutions Architect a plus).
- AWS migration experience: planning and executing migrations from on premises / self
managed infrastructure to AWS (re-platform, re-host, re-architect), including cutover and post migration validation.
- Zabbix: deploying, configuring and operating Zabbix for infrastructure and service monitoring and alerting.
- Percona: administering Percona database stacks (MySQL / PostgreSQL / MongoDB) — performance tuning, backups and high availability.
- Experience with multi-account / multi-environment AWS landing zones (AWS Organizations, Transit Gateway).
- Exposure to telecom or high-traffic consumer mobile platforms.
Attributes
- Ownership mindset; comfortable participating in an on-call rotation.
- Bias toward automation, reliability and continuous improvement.
- Disciplined documentation habits (runbooks, post-incident reports).
