Job Title: AI/ML Data Scientist

Location: Arlington, Virginia, United States

Type: Full Time

Our Client is a leading data-driven organization focused on leveraging advanced analytics, AI, and machine learning to transform complex data into actionable insights. They are looking for a talented AI/ML Data Scientist to design and deliver innovative solutions across structured and unstructured data environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable AI and analytics solutions
  • Design and develop machine learning models to support search, discovery, and insight generation
  • Build and implement NLP, semantic search, and entity resolution solutions for advanced data analysis
  • Work with document-based datasets (OCR/ICR outputs, metadata, free text) to extract insights
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams to deploy models in modern data platforms (Databricks, AWS, etc.)
  • Develop model evaluation frameworks, explainability methods, and performance metrics
  • Create dashboards, reporting, and analytics solutions to support decision-making
  • Contribute to Agile delivery through sprint planning, experimentation, and iterative development
  • Communicate insights clearly to both technical and business stakeholders
  • Support solution design, innovation initiatives, and thought leadership in AI/ML

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field
  • 4+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or applied analytics
  • Strong experience in:
  • Natural Language Processing (NLP)
  • Semantic search / information retrieval
  • Entity resolution / relationship modeling
  • Experience working with large-scale structured and unstructured data, including document-based datasets
  • Strong programming skills in Python (Pandas, Scikit-learn, PyTorch/TensorFlow) and SQL
  • Experience with Databricks / Spark for large-scale data processing
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud services
  • Experience working with data lake or lakehouse architectures
  • Experience deploying models into production (APIs, pipelines, analytics platforms)
  • Strong understanding of model evaluation and performance metrics
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in Agile environments

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Palantir Foundry or similar analytics platforms
  • Consulting or client-facing experience
  • Hands-on work with AI-enabled search and retrieval systems
  • Exposure to multimodal data (text, images) and document intelligence use cases
  • Experience with MLOps platforms (e.g., SageMaker, Databricks ML)
  • Knowledge of Explainable AI (XAI) techniques and model transparency
  • Experience building dashboards or reporting tools for business users
  • Familiarity with graph analytics, ontology models, or relationship mapping
  • Experience working in regulated or government environments
