About The Role We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. In this pivotal role, you will support Nift’s accounting operations by managing daily transaction processing, contributing to month-end close activities, performing reconciliations, and assisting with audit preparations. Reporting directly to the Senior Accountant, you will play a key role in bringing all accounting functions in-house, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. Your contributions will help support our continued growth and operational scalability, as we transition from external accounting services to a robust internal accounting function. The ideal candidate will possess a proactive ownership mindset, high attention to detail, and a strong foundation in accounting principles.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3+ years of general accounting experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
• Proven experience with core accounting principles, journal entries, and month-end close processes
• Experience working in a private company environment or transitioning from public accounting for at least one year
• Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
• Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail
• Ownership mindset with proactive and self-driven attitude
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Own and manage day-to-day accounting operations, including processing and posting all accounts payable and receivable transactions
• Review and approve AP/AR entries ensuring accuracy and completeness prior to management review
• Prepare and post month-end close journal entries, including accruals and partner reconciliations
• Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations, supporting variance analysis and flux assessments
• Assist in supporting the monthly close process by ensuring timely approvals, accurate documentation, and maintaining clean financial data
• Support audit preparation by maintaining organized records and responding efficiently to auditor requests
• Collaborate closely with the Senior Accountant and broader Finance team to follow established workflows, incorporate feedback, and improve processes continuously
• Assist in transitioning core accounting functions from external firms to in-house operations, helping to build scalable internal processes
