About The Role We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our Finance team at EPS Learning. The ideal candidate will have two to three years of accounting experience, possess strong analytical skills, and be proficient with accounting software and Excel. This hybrid position is based in Bethesda, MD, offering a flexible work environment with employer-paid parking. The successful candidate will play a vital role in managing accounts payable, preparing journal entries, supporting month-end close activities, and ensuring the accuracy of financial data within our NetSuite ERP system. The role provides an excellent opportunity to work closely with cross-functional teams, contribute to process improvements, and support financial compliance and reporting efforts. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related business field
  • 2–3 years of relevant accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of debits, credits, accounts payable, and journal entries
  • Experience working with NetSuite or similar ERP financial systems
  • Exposure to 1–2 financial audits as a team member
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas, and data analysis
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment (3–4 days in the Bethesda office)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with process improvement initiatives (desirable)
  • Knowledge of sales tax, inventory management, and Cost of Goods Sold (preferred)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Windows PC

Responsibilities

  • Process and manage accounts payable transactions efficiently and accurately
  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries in accordance with accounting principles and internal policies
  • Assist with monthly close procedures, including reconciliations and financial reporting
  • Support audit requests by providing necessary documentation and explanations
  • Maintain the integrity and accuracy of financial data within the NetSuite ERP system
  • Develop and maintain complex Excel spreadsheets to support reconciliations, reporting, and financial analysis
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Finance and other departments to resolve discrepancies and improve financial processes
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies
