Accountant

**Job Description:** We are seeking a hands\-on, detail\-oriented **Accountant** to manage full\-cycle accounting operations independently. This is a standalone role responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring timely month\-end and year\-end close processes. The successful candidate will be comfortable working without internal accounting supervision and will be responsible for ensuring CPA\-ready financial reporting. **Key Responsibilities** * Manage full\-cycle accounting including journal entries, accruals, and general ledger maintenance * Lead month\-end and year\-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness * Prepare monthly financial statements including income statements and balance sheets * Perform account reconciliations and investigate variances or discrepancies * Maintain and update the general ledger with accurate financial data * Oversee AP and AR processes, ensuring proper coding, accuracy, and timely processing * Prepare and file government remittances including HST, WSIB, and EHT * Support audit preparation by organizing working papers and providing documentation to external auditors * Make necessary corrections and adjustments to financial records as required * Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accounting standards * Provide financial reporting and insights as required by management **Requirements** * 5\+ years of full\-cycle accounting experience (manufacturing or distribution experience preferred) * Strong knowledge of financial statement preparation and month\-end close processes * Experience managing AP, AR, and general ledger independently * Working knowledge of government remittances (HST, WSIB, EHT) * Experience supporting external audits * Proficiency in accounting systems (QuickBooks, SAP, or similar) * Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, reconciliations) * Ability to work independently with minimal supervision * Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy **Nice to Have** * Experience working in a standalone or sole\-charge accounting role * Exposure to CPA firm environments or audit\-heavy roles * Manufacturing or food distribution industry experience **Key Attributes** * Highly independent and self\-sufficient * Strong problem\-solving and analytical mindset * Comfortable working without internal accounting oversight * Organized, detail\-oriented, and deadline\-driven * Strong ownership mentality for financial accuracy
