£45k base salary

A boutique international professional services firm looking to hire a

Semi-Senior Accountant

to support our UK team. This role offers exposure to complex group structures, investment-backed entities, and a diverse portfolio of clients across multiple sectors.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys ownership, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is confident managing multiple clients independently.

The Role

You will manage your own portfolio of clients/entities, supporting a group with investment interests across multiple companies and jurisdictions. The position involves working closely with senior stakeholders and cross-border teams while delivering high-quality financial reporting and insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and finalise monthly and quarterly management accounts
  • Manage a portfolio of clients/entities independently
  • Support year-end processes, including liaising with external auditors
  • Perform bank, balance sheet, and multi-currency reconciliations
  • Post journals including accruals, prepayments, and depreciation
  • Handle foreign exchange revaluations and multi-currency transactions
  • Maintain accurate bookkeeping records and review junior work
  • Manage client relationships and respond to queries in a timely, professional manner
  • Support complex group and investment structures (including consolidations)
  • Assist with UK VAT and Corporate Tax compliance
  • Contribute to internal reporting, workflow improvements, and automation initiatives
  • Collaborate with international teams across multiple regions
  • Support ad hoc projects (e.g., board packs, company setups, coordination with overseas accountants)

About You

  • Accounting experience (practice background preferred)
  • Strong hands-on bookkeeping and management accounts experience
  • Confident working independently and managing multiple entities
  • Experience with IFRS / IFRS for SMEs (UK GAAP exposure beneficial)
  • Familiarity with financial services, investment firms, or group structures is advantageous
  • Competent with cloud accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas, data analysis)
  • Comfortable working with multi-currency environments
  • Exposure to audit processes is a plus
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and client-facing abilities
  • Experience working with cross-border teams
  • Proactive mindset with an interest in process improvement, automation, and AI tools
