Job Description
Founded in 1959, Alliance Mercantile Inc., is a large multinational manufacturer of waterproof outerwear, hi visibility safety garments, industrial safety footwear, FR clothing, work gloves, and consumer packaged goods serving the industrial, retail, ad specialty markets, as well as the drug, grocery and mass retailers.
We are looking for a full-time Accountant based out of our Burnaby Head Office.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and reconcile monthly journal entries including month end accruals and intercompany transactions and support in the month end process.
- Review and analyze variances against prior periods and provide clear communication to management.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual non-consolidated and consolidated financial statements.
- Record and reconcile monthly sales, payment receipts and customer refunds for the e-commerce business.
- Analyze sales performance, margins, and operating costs associated with e-commerce activities.
- Record and reconcile sales transactions, customer receipts, credit notes, and customer refunds related to the retail store and the joint-venture manufactured products.
- Post vendor invoices, process and record payments for the joint-venture manufacturing business.
- Monitor and reconcile joint-venture manufacturing activities, including raw material purchases and usage, work-in-process, finished goods movement, and related inventory variances.
- Track inventory movements, investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, and support inventory control procedures.
- Plan, organize and lead the mid-year and year-end physical inventory counts across all business units.
- Coordinate inventory count activities with operations, warehouse, and management teams.
- Review, reconcile, and investigate inventory variances, ensuring timely resolution of discrepancies.
- Prepare monthly GST/HST and QST filing and process tax payments.
- Assist in preparation of annual budget, including variance analysis and reporting.
Qualifications \& Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- 2–5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing, retail, or distribution environments.
- Proficient in ERP systems, Microsoft Office, and accounting software.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
