Job Description
Remote Academic Counsellor
Compensation: INR 30,000-35,000 (with a performance-based increase post-probation)
FunFox is Australia's leading online English learning platform. Our small-group classes help young learners build real reading and writing skills, and the families who join us trust us to look after their children's progress every step of the way.
About the Role
At FunFox, the Academic Counsellor is the backbone of our parent experience. You are the person families turn to when they have a question, a concern, or simply need someone to help them make sense of their child's journey with us. This means managing relationships, coordinating communication, and ensuring nothing falls through the cracks. The role sits within the Customer Success department and reports directly to the COO.
What You Will Do
- Build genuine relationships with parents and approach every interaction with warmth and a commitment to finding real solutions
- Coordinate parent-teacher meetings and manage scheduling on our student portal
- Lead structured touchpoints across the term: new parent orientations, portal walkthroughs, midterm check-ins, and retention conversations with parents to better understands needs and how we can improve their experience
- Monitor class attendance on your rostered days and proactively follow up with absent or late students
- Manage the WhatsApp parent support channel on a rostered basis (twice a week)
- Draft and coordinate all outgoing parent email communications, including FAQs and term updates
- Handle payment reconciliation, instalment tracking, and reminder messages
- Coordinate end-of-term prize dispatch for students
- Build and maintain term schedules on the FunFox portal
Working Hours
This role runs on a roster system aligned to our global class schedule, covering US, Australian, and Middle East/UK cohorts. Typically, your core working window is roughly
7:00 am to 3:00 pm PKT
, covering Australian classes (11:30 am to 3:00 pm PKT) and administrative work earlier in the day.
On rostered days, you will also check in on Middle East and UK classes in the evening (6:00 pm, 8:00 pm, and 9:00 pm PKT) and US classes in the early morning (4:00 am PKT). Class check-ins are brief, typically a 5-minute drop-in to confirm attendance and relay any messages. You will be rostered for class monitoring twice a week. We know early morning and evening check-ins are part of the deal, and we factor that into how the rest of the day is structured.
Outside of rostered hours, the expectation is that your assigned work for the day is completed and submitted on time. This is a flexible role where you can, if you need to, space tasks out and do them in your own time, as long as you keep an open line of communication with your manager and make sure nothing is outstanding at the end of the day, particularly parent communications, emails, and recorded updates.
What We Are Looking For
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Warm, empathetic, and genuinely good with people
- Detail oriented and proactive: you notice things before they become problems
- Comfortable with CRM tools (we use HubSpot), Google Suite, and portal management
- Quick on your feet in conversations and under pressure
- A bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Business Administration, Social Sciences, Educational Leadership, English Language, or Psychology
A Note on Attention to Detail
Online education has a lot of moving parts: multiple classes, different time zones, individual student links, and varying schedules. This role demands someone who keeps track of the details without being reminded. If that comes naturally to you, you will do well here.
HubSpot training will be provided. The first month is focused on learning the ropes, understanding SOPs, and getting familiar with our processes. From there, it is about demonstrating that understanding with responsibility, consistency, and proactivity.
