Job Description

*Civil Inspector for Roads, Underground Works, Paving \& Dike walls.* Civil Inspector for Roads, Underground Works, required on contract bases for 12 months

Requirements

  • B.Eng. in Civil Engineering with relevant certification and 10 years of experience in civil inspection at refineries or petrochemical plants
  • Shall have thorough knowledge of all applicable codes and standards for underground piping, drainage systems, buried civil works, road construction, concrete and asphalt paving, and chemical containment bund design and construction relevant to refinery and petrochemical facility requirements.
  • Capable of inspecting all stages of underground works including calculations, excavation, bedding, pipe laying, jointing, backfilling, and compaction, and shall verify pipe material specifications, joint types, gradients, and invert levels against approved drawings and specifications.
  • Shall witness and verify pressure testing and leakage testing of underground pipelines and drainage systems, and capable of inspecting construction of manholes, sump pits, catch basins, and associated drainage structures.
  • Knowledgeable in soil classification, compaction requirements, and backfill material specifications for underground works, and can witness compaction testing using nuclear density gauge or Proctor methods and verify results against specifications.
  • Capable of inspecting waterproofing and protective coating systems applied to buried structures and underground pipework, and capable of inspecting subgrade preparation, sub-base, and base course construction for roads and paved areas verifying material quality and compaction requirements.
  • Shall witness and verify asphalt concrete placement including temperature monitoring, compaction, surface finish, and joint construction, and capable of inspecting reinforced concrete paving activities including mix design approval, placement, finishing, curing, and joint sawing and sealing.
  • Shall witness compaction testing on subgrade and sub-base layers and verify results against specified density requirements, and capable of witnessing gradient and drainage checks on paved surfaces to ensure proper stormwater and hydrocarbon drainage.
  • Capable of inspecting bund wall construction including dimensions, freeboard requirements, sump locations, and penetration sealing in accordance with applicable containment standards, and knowledgeable in chemical resistant lining systems applied to bunded areas and their inspection requirements including surface preparation and application thickness verification.
