Subject Matter Expert - ELA (K12)

The Subject Matter Expert (SME) for English Language Arts (ELA) will develop engaging and comprehensive lesson plans and instructional materials for a Grade 3\-12 ELA course aligned with the US curriculum. This role requires a strong understanding of literary analysis, writing skills, and effective teaching strategies to foster student literacy and critical thinking. **Key Responsibilities:** * **Subject Matter Expertise:** * Conduct thorough research on key literary works, genres, and themes relevant to Grade 3\-12 ELA. * Stay informed about current educational trends and best practices in language arts instruction. * **Instructional Design and Development:** * Create detailed lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and learning objectives. * Develop assessments and evaluation tools to measure student understanding and writing proficiency. * Design supplementary materials, such as reading guides, writing prompts, and multimedia resources, to enhance the learning experience. * **Collaboration and Feedback:** * Collaborate with curriculum developers, educators, and stakeholders to ensure alignment with educational goals. * Incorporate feedback from peer reviews and pilot testing to refine lesson plans and instructional materials. * Participate in virtual collaboration sessions with the LearningMate team to discuss progress and share insights. **Qualifications:** * **Required:** * Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field. * Proven experience in curriculum development and lesson planning for English Language Arts. * Strong knowledge of literary analysis and writing instruction. * Experience teaching English Language Arts at the high school level. * Must be comfortable working with AI Tools, and should be open to work on Articulate Rise (training will be provided). * **Preferred:** * Master’s degree in English, Education, or a related field. * Familiarity with digital learning platforms and instructional technology. **Skills and Attributes:** * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities. * Creative approach to instructional design and student engagement. * Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting. * Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
