Job Description
Applications are invited for the post of Ophthalmic Theatre Nurse / Operating Department Practitioner to join our Theatre Team at Stockport Eye Centre. The ideal candidate will have experience in a anaesthetics and recovery role, must be RGN or ODP qualified, have a valid NMC or HCPC registration and have post\-registration experience.
Experience in a surgical nursing environment is essential with ophthalmic experience in either surgery or pre\-operative nursing being desirable. Working in this pressured environment as part of a close\-knit multidisciplinary team, you will know that this role requires high levels of focus and engagement.
* As a Theatre Practitioner (Nurse or ODP) your role will be in Anaesthetics and/or Recovery, delivering a consistently high standard of patient care utilising evidence\-based practice. You will assess, plan, deliver and evaluate all aspect of patient care, prepare patients and aid with clinical/operative procedures and participate fully as a team member, including working in all areas of the theatre suite, sharing knowledge and information and supporting colleagues, to promote a cohesive team and the achievement of team objectives.
This post is suitable for students who are due to qualify this year who will hold a relevant qualification.

**Requirements**
* Current Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or Health and Care Professionals Council registration (HCPC)
* Registered General Nurse OR Registered Operating Departmental Practitioner
* Commitment to undertake an appropriate course of study
* To have knowledge and understanding of all surgical specialities within the operating department
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
