Job Description

Join our dynamic Same Day Admissions Unit (SDAU) and become part of a friendly supportive team dedicated to providing seamless care to patients preparing for elective surgery. As a Staff nurse in SDAU you will play a key role in preparing patients for theatre, including Same Day, major and minor surgeries across a range of specialties. This is a fast paced environment that offers an excellent opportunity to develop your clinical, assessment \& communication skills. **You need to have a live NMC UK pin in order to be considered for this post.** **Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:** * Location based in Glasgow Royal Infirmary * Permanent Contract * Part\-time Position (22 hours per week) * Shift Pattern \- Monday to Friday, dayshifts **Key Responsibilities** * Carrying out pre\-operative Admission documentation and assessments to prepare patients for theatre. * Working closely with multidisciplinary Teams to ensure timely patient flow. * Maintaining accurate clinical records and ensuring safe handovers. * Safe recovery of same day surgery pathway patients to discharge, Blood transfusions, iron infusions and recovery of post radiological procedures. * Responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for patients to ensure delivery of a high standard of care * Maintain effective communication with patients, relatives /carers and other members of the MDT to ensure that appropriate information is shared and patient needs are met * Work within the defined policies, procedures, standards and protocols of the Division / Department and report outcomes to senior nursing staff to enable monitoring of standards of acre * Maintain departmental stock levels, through ordering of stores, ensuring the economic use of all resources * Develop the role by using evidence\-based practice and continuously improve own knowledge following PREP **Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:** **Essential Criteria** * Registered Nurse (Adult) NMC PIN required * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to prioritise and manage time effectively in a fast paced setting. * Commitment to delivering high quality standards of care. **Desirable** * Previous experience in pre\-operative care, surgical or acute settings. **What We Offer** We offer a wide range of supportive policies designed to enhance your employee journey, including a comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme, Cycle to Work Scheme, bursary scheme and extensive learning and development opportunities.
