Job Description
**About RiskSpectrum**
RiskSpectrum develops a suite of desktop and web\-based software products used to analyse risk, reliability, and availability in complex systems. Our tools are used in safety\-critical industries, including nuclear power, where around 60% of the world’s plants rely on our software.
Our products are installed in customer\-managed environments rather than hosted by us, so testing often involves installations, upgrades, integrations, configurations, and system behaviour across a range of environments.
**The role**
This is a hands\-on software testing role focused on testing complex software across different environments, configurations, and product integrations. Most testing is manual and exploratory, covering end\-to\-end workflows, installations, upgrades, regression, and system behaviour across desktop and web\-based products.
The role suits someone who enjoys understanding how software behaves as a whole \- across environments, versions, dependencies, and end\-to\-end system workflows.
You will be part of a small development team, working closely with developers and product management to help deliver high\-quality software in a regulated environment where quality, traceability, and practical thinking matter.
You will be based in Stockholm, Sweden, working with colleagues in the UK, Germany, and China, with flexible hybrid working and regular in\-office collaboration.
**What you’ll do**
· Work closely with product management and developers to shape and scope new features.
· Help refine requirements and design structured, requirement\-driven test scenarios.
· Execute end\-to\-end, exploratory, and regression testing across different environments, configurations, and product combinations.
· Investigate issues, compare behaviour across versions, and work with developers to resolve them.
· Validate installation packages, upgrades, and release integrity.
· Help create, maintain, and improve test environments used for development and testing.
· Improve how we test, including tooling, automation, and test coverage where it adds value.
**How we work**
· We are a small, collaborative team working in sprints.
· Testers are part of the development process, not a separate phase at the end.
· Testing often spans multiple products, including areas where systems and components interact.
· Most work is in Windows\-based environments, with some Linux.
· Some testing involves technically specialised domains, so testers work alongside subject matter experts where needed.
**Tools and technologies**
· Azure DevOps (Boards, Test Plans, and Pipelines).
· VS Code with Gherkin (.feature files).
· PowerShell scripting, including Pester for API and regression testing.
· C\# Playwright testing.
· GitHub Copilot and other AI\-assisted tools to support test design, coverage, and workflows.
· Pipelines, VM images, and environment configurations used to create and maintain test environments.
**What we’re looking for**
· Commercial experience as a software tester, ideally working with complex scientific, engineering, or other technically complex software.
· Experience testing complete workflows, integrated systems, and software behaviour across different environments or configurations.
· Confidence in investigating issues, interpreting requirements, and identifying risks, gaps, and edge cases.
· Comfortable working in a hands\-on, mostly manual testing role focused on installations, upgrades, and system behaviour.
· Good communication skills, attention to detail, and a practical, collaborative approach to problem\-solving.
· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
· Currently based in Sweden and with the right to work in Sweden.
· Strong written and spoken English.
**Nice to have**
· Experience using Azure DevOps or similar tools for test management and issue tracking.
· Familiarity with Gherkin / BDD or structured test design.
· Basic scripting experience (e.g. PowerShell or Python).
· Exposure to API testing (script\-based or tool\-based).
· Experience using Playwright for end\-to\-end testing of web apps.
