Software Engineer

As part of the Performance team, you’ll help ensure our editorial and commercial platforms are fast, scalable, and ready to meet both breaking news and long\-term product innovation. We’re now looking for a **Software Engineer** who enjoys building high\-quality solutions and collaborating closely with Product, UX, and newsroom stakeholders. **Fluency in Swedish (spoken and written) is required for this role** , as you will work closely with Swedish\-speaking newsroom stakeholders on a daily basis. **What you’ll do** * Develop and maintain services within our editorial and commercial domains * Take ownership of features from idea to production * Collaborate with Product, UX, and newsroom teams to translate needs into scalable technical solutions * Write clean, secure, and testable code * Contribute to architectural discussions and technical improvements * Balance rapid delivery under tight deadlines with long\-term maintainability You’ll work across the full development lifecycle — from planning and implementation to deployment and continuous improvement. **Our tech environment** You don’t need to know everything on day one, but experience with parts of our stack is important: * Node.js (backend services) * JavaScript / TypeScript * Svelte and/or React * CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) * AWS * Docker * SQL databases We also use AI\-assisted development tools as part of our engineering workflow. **Who you are** You have **at least three years** of relevant professional experience in software development. We believe you: * Have solid experience building applications in JavaScript/TypeScript * Have worked with Node.js and modern frontend frameworks * Understand APIs, backend services, and system integration * Are comfortable working with cloud environments and CI/CD * Care about performance, maintainability, and security * Are fluent in Swedish (spoken and written), as collaboration with newsroom stakeholders requires it And as a colleague, you are: * Collaborative – you enjoy working cross\-functionally * Curious – you explore new technologies and improvements * Analytical – you approach problems in a structured way * Proactive – you take initiative and ownership * Clear in communication – you explain technical concepts simply We value skills and potential over background.
