**Shopify Hydrogen Developer \- Headless Commerce** We are looking for a **senior\-level Shopify Hydrogen Developer** who can build and maintain high\-performance headless storefronts for serious e\-commerce brands. This is not a basic Shopify role, not a theme\-editing role, and not a generic React\-only role. You will be expected to build modern custom storefronts using Shopify’s headless stack, which currently centers on **Hydrogen** , **Remix** , **Oxygen** , and Shopify’s **Storefront API** . Shopify describes Hydrogen as its opinionated framework for headless commerce built on Remix, with Oxygen as Shopify’s hosting environment for Hydrogen storefronts, and Storefront API as the core API for product, cart, and checkout\-related commerce functionality. The right candidate should be strong in **Hydrogen, React, Remix\-based architecture, GraphQL, Storefront API usage, headless storefront performance, component architecture, debugging, and scalable implementation judgment** . Shopify also provides Hydrogen React as a framework\-agnostic React utility layer bundled with Hydrogen, and Hydrogen/Oxygen include built\-in caching patterns that matter for storefront speed and architecture decisions. **What You’ll Be Responsible For** **Headless Storefront Development** * Build and maintain Shopify headless storefronts using Hydrogen * Develop scalable front\-end architecture using React and Remix patterns * Connect the storefront correctly with Shopify data through the Storefront API * Implement commerce\-critical flows such as product browsing, cart behavior, and checkout handoff **Commerce Logic \& Data Integration** * Work with GraphQL queries and mutations for product, collection, cart, customer, and checkout\-related functionality * Structure data loading and storefront logic cleanly * Handle dynamic content, variant behavior, product pages, collection pages, search, and cart experiences * Build solutions that are flexible, maintainable, and commercially useful **Performance \& Maintainability** * Build with performance in mind from the start * Use caching, loading strategies, and clean architecture thoughtfully * Reduce fragility and technical debt in headless storefront implementations * Debug root causes properly instead of patching symptoms **Technical Execution \& Collaboration** * Translate approved UI/UX designs into production\-ready headless storefronts * Work closely with designers, project managers, and other developers * Ensure implementation is responsive, scalable, and maintainable * Raise technical risks early and make strong feasibility decisions **Ownership \& Engineering Judgment** * Take ownership of real storefront outcomes, not just tickets * Think beyond front\-end visuals and understand commerce behavior * Make decisions that improve long\-term maintainability and performance * Act like a senior developer who can protect storefront quality under pressure **Required Experience \& Skills (Non\-Negotiable)** * Strong professional experience in **Shopify headless development** * Strong working experience with **Hydrogen** * Strong proficiency in **React** * Strong understanding of **Remix\-style full\-stack storefront architecture** * Strong experience with **GraphQL** and Shopify **Storefront API** * Experience building real e\-commerce storefronts, not only dashboards or internal apps * Strong debugging and troubleshooting ability * Strong code organization and component architecture * Clear written communication and structured technical thinking **Strong Preference** * Experience deploying and maintaining Hydrogen storefronts on **Oxygen** * Strong understanding of **caching** , data loading, and storefront performance * Experience with search, cart, customer flows, and custom commerce experiences * Experience converting Figma or approved designs into production\-ready headless builds * Experience working in agency or fast\-moving client environments **Hiring Criteria \& Evaluation Process** This follows the same structure from your uploaded hiring resource: **initial shortlisting, job application form plus sample task, IQ test meeting, technical interview, and final interview** .
