Senior Accountant

**About the Opportunity:** **Accounting Operations** * Manage day\-to\-day banking and cash management activities. * Reconcile bank accounts, loan accounts, and other general ledger accounts. * Process month\-end and year\-end journal entries and closing activities. * Prepare and record payroll\-related journal entries and reconcile payroll accounts (wages, benefits, and statutory deductions). * Maintain and reconcile the Fixed Assets sub\-ledger, track capital projects and update continuity schedules. * Prepare intercompany reconciliations, identify mismatches, and coordinate with internal stakeholders to resolve discrepancies in a timely manner. **Compliance \& Tax** * File monthly sales tax returns and analyze related accounts. * Assist in the preparation of corporate tax returns and ensure compliance with tax regulations. * Prepare and submit required filings to Statistics Canada (StatCan) in accordance with reporting requirements and deadlines. * Support internal and external audit processes by preparing documentation and coordinating responses. **Process Improvement \& Controls** * Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy. * Ensure adherence to internal controls and accounting policies. * Streamline accounting functions and operations using financial systems and automation tools. **Team Collaboration \& Leadership** * Collaborate with cross\-functional teams to ensure financial processes align with business objectives. * Communicate regularly with banks, credit card service providers, and external auditors. **Other Duties** * Perform ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as required. * Support finance\-related projects and initiatives. **About You** * 5\-7 years of experience in full\-cycle accounting, preferably in a senior or supervisory role. * Experience with financial systems and ERP platforms (e.g., SAP). * Post\-secondary education in Accounting or Finance; CPA designation or enrollment in the CPA program is considered an asset. *This position for employment is for a current vacancy with Highspring’s client.
