Universal Bookkeeping seeks a detail\-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. This role requires a professional with at least three years of experience in accounting and bookkeeping, preferably with a strong background in working with US or Canadian clients. The Senior Accountant will oversee financial reporting, general ledger management, budgeting, and forecasting activities, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance across all financial processes. This position demands expertise in IFRS, financial statement preparation, and tax planning with proficiency in various accounting and payroll software solutions such as QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, ADP, and Gusto. The successful candidate will demonstrate analytical problem\-solving abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and the capability to manage multiple client deadlines effectively.
As a Senior Accountant at Universal Bookkeeping, you will lead a team of five professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure seamless financial operations and accurate bookkeeping practices. Your leadership will foster collaboration and continuous improvement in accounting processes, internal controls, and compliance measures. You will be pivotal in driving budgeting strategies, coordinating tax preparation activities, and implementing financial controls that align with company policies and regulatory standards. **Responsibilities**
* Lead and manage a team of five accounting professionals, ensuring effective delegation, supervision, and professional development.
* Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and applicable regulatory requirements.
* Manage general ledger activities, including reconciliation, adjustments, and analysis to maintain accurate financial records.
* Develop and implement budgeting and forecasting processes to support financial planning and decision\-making.
* Conduct thorough financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improving the companys financial performance.
* Ensure regulatory compliance with tax laws and accounting standards for both US and Canadian clients, including tax preparation and planning.
* Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks Online and Desktop, SAP, Oracle, and payroll systems like ADP, Gusto, and Paychex to streamline financial operations.
* Coordinate accounts reconciliation processes across multiple client accounts, maintaining accuracy and resolving discrepancies promptly.
* Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure reliability of financial information.
* Manage multiple clients and deadlines efficiently, maintaining clear communication and timely delivery of financial reports and services.
* Collaborate with cross\-functional teams using communication and collaboration tools such as Slack, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Google Workspace to facilitate workflow.
* Provide ongoing training and support to team members to enhance their accounting skills and software proficiency.
* Monitor changes in financial regulations and standards to ensure continuous compliance and update company accounting practices accordingly.
* Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to senior management, highlighting key financial insights and recommendations.
* Assist in audits and liaise with external auditors, ensuring all necessary documentation and controls are in place for a smooth audit process.
