**Senior Accountant – Finance**   **Kerr Group of Companies**   Remote – Halifax, Nova Scotia  Reports to – CFO *Technology \| Infrastructure \| Fleet Intelligence*     Build Systems. Own the Numbers.  Kerr Group is looking for a high\-performing Senior Accountant who wants more than a traditional accounting role.  This position is ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership, improving systems, and helping a growing organization operate more efficiently.  You will play a key role in managing financial operations across multiple companies while helping modernize accounting processes through automation, technology, and smarter workflows.  If you take pride in producing accurate financial information, solving problems independently, and continuously improving how things work, this role will give you the autonomy and responsibility to make a real impact.  **About Kerr Group**   The Kerr Group of Companies has been building and operating high\-performance technology and infrastructure businesses across Canada since 1997\.  Our growth has been driven by strong partnerships, operational excellence, and a commitment to delivering exceptional results for our customers.  Today, the Kerr Group includes the following operating companies:  Northern Business Intelligence (Northern BI) \- Founded in 2005, Northern BI is a leading provider of fleet intelligence and vehicle telematics solutions and has been a Geotab partner since inception.  We help organizations unlock the power of connected vehicle data; transforming real\-time insights into safer fleets, smarter operations, and measurable performance improvements.  Frontier Technologies \- Frontier specializes in the implementation of advanced communications infrastructure including structured cabling, IP surveillance systems, access control systems, and telecommunications subcontractor services.  **The Opportunity**   The Senior Accountant will oversee key financial processes across the Kerr Group and ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and efficient financial operations.  This role is best suited for someone who enjoys taking full ownership of their work, solving problems independently, and continuously improving systems rather than simply maintaining them.    **Responsibilities**   **Financial Operations** * Manage full\-cycle Accounts Payable * Review invoices, coding, payment processing, vendor communication, and reconciliations * Oversee corporate credit card reconciliations and expense allocations * Maintain vendor accounts and resolve discrepancies **Payroll \& Compliance**   * Process bi\-weekly payroll for multiple companies using Payworks * Ensure payroll compliance and reconciliations * Prepare year\-end T4 reporting **Month\-End Close \& Financial Reporting**   * Support the month\-end close process * Prepare working papers, accruals, and account reconciliations * Assist in preparing internal financial statements and financial reports * Ensure accurate expense classification and financial reporting **Financial Planning \& Analysis**   * Support budgeting and forecasting processes * Provide financial insights and reporting to leadership **Process Improvement**   * Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows * Use AI tools and automation to improve operational efficiency * Leverage advanced Excel modeling and reporting tools * Strengthen financial processes and internal controls   **Qualifications**   **Core Requirements**   * 4\+ years of accounting experience in a fast\-paced environment * Post\-secondary education in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent experience considered) * Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas required) * Experience with month\-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting * Comfortable using AI tools and modern productivity software * Strong attention to detail and organizational skills * Ability to work independently in a remote environment * Self\-starter with high accountability, strong deadline management, and an energetic, go\-getter mindset.   **Nice to Have**   * Experience processing payroll end\-to\-end * Experience with Microsoft Business Central * Experience working with multi\-entity organizations   **Who This Role Is Perfect For**   This role will be a great fit if you:  * Enjoy taking ownership of your work * Like improving systems and finding better ways of doing things * Are comfortable working independently in a remote environment * Take pride in producing accurate and reliable financial information * Want to contribute to a growing entrepreneurial organization   **Our Culture**   At Kerr Group, we value accountability, initiative, and continuous improvement.  We believe great people thrive when they have ownership, autonomy, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact.
