Job Description
The Senior Accountant performs financial functions related to the collection, accuracy, recording, analysis and presentation of the company's financial operations.
The Senior Accountant is responsible for exercising discretion and independent judgment in performing the full range of routine and complex departmental accounting and record\-keeping functions, in conjunction with the Accounting team
**Responsibilities**
**Cash Management**
* Reconcile bank accounts in multi\-currency on a weekly basis
* Prepare monthly bank compilation summary report for Senior Director, Corporate Controller
* Prepare bi\-weekly cash flow
* Update monthly bank balances for Senior Director, Corporate Controller
* Enter bank entries into the accounting software
* Ensure that all bank accounts have sufficient funds at all times.
* Ensure all bank reconciliations are up to date with minimal outstanding items.
**General Ledger \& Financial**
* Prepares journal entries and reconciles general ledger and subsidiary accounts
* Complete Balance Sheet reconciliations monthly and ensure reconciliations are up to date with minimal outstanding items.
* Identify ad hoc accounting issues as they occur and recommend solutions to Financial Controller
* Complete month\-end processing tasks (e.g. depreciation, prepaid and accrual calculations and journals, client recharge reconciliation, accruals, etc.)
* Complete monthly settlement of Intercompany balances and month end foreign exchange adjustments and reconciliations
* Validate and record all Cost of Sales and Direct Cost allocations on a monthly basis
* Support the month\-end and year\-end close process
* Ensures financial records for accuracy and proper classification of financial transactions
* Perform variance analysis as part of month\-end and where necessary.
* Process payroll for both US and CAD entities
* Adhere to SOX compliance
* Resolve accounting discrepancies
**Compliance**
* Assist Financial Controller with year\-end audit, including the preparation of audit working papers and audit sample selection
* File and record any monthly, quarterly, annual tax compliance (excluding corporate income tax return)
* Ensure all compliance items are completed on time with accuracy.
**Other**
* Provides accounting assistance to other departments and employees
* Maintain accounting controls by recommending processes and procedures
* Support / cover for other Finance team members as and when necessary (ie. holidays, sick, etc.)
* Carrying out various ad\-hoc tasks when necessary
* Implement process documentation
* Assist with credit card expenses
* Any other tasks as needed
**Qualifications**
Demonstrated Experience / Projects
Cash management
* Experience reconciling bank accounts in different currencies
* Experience with cash\-flow management and forecasting
Bank Reconciliations
* Understand the bank reconciliation process and ensure they are completed weekly accurately.
General Ledger
* Experience preparing journal entries for several different financial statement areas with minimal oversight
* Experience reconciling and explaining differences between the general ledger and subledger
* Experience preparing regular Canadian and US payroll
* Extremely analytical and able to think outside the box
Technical / Hard Skills
* Advanced Excel and good Word skills
* Proficient with data entry
* Understand how to perform reconciliations with highest accuracy and on time

* Strong attention to detail
* Able to prioritize work, stay flexible and adapt to changing priorities
* Excellent organizational skills
* Experience working with large payroll providers.
* Experience working in an ERP environment.
* Proven ability to problem solve and work independently
* Keep eye and a proven track record for suggesting and implementing process improvement

* Strong written and verbal communication stills
* Operate as front\-line communication for payroll issues. Being able to communicate clearly with staff, and department heads as issues arise.
* Able to gather, analyze and present material clearly

* Being able to work on own initiative and as part of a team
* Willingness to question existing policies and procedures, looking for efficiencies.
Level of Leadership
* 5\+ years' of professional accounting experience
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics or equivalent experience
* CPA preferred
