Junior Software Engineer

Chumley is an early\-stage tech startup building software that gives tradespeople the flexibility and tools they need to focus on their work, streamlining workflows and keeping more engineers operating at optimum levels. The team is small, ambitious, and focused on shipping practical, high\-impact tools used in the field every day. The role Chumley is looking for a Junior Software Engineer to help design, build, and scale internal and customer\-facing products from the ground up. You will work end\-to\-end across the stack, with a strong focus on modern front\-end tooling, performant back\-end services, and deep integrations with internal systems like Salesforce. What you'll be doing * Building fast, responsive front\-end interfaces using **React** and **Vite** . * Designing and implementing robust back\-end services and APIs. * Integrating core products with **Salesforce** and other operational systems. * Developing and maintaining features that support field engineers and operations teams. * Experimenting with **AI** and **chatbots** to automate workflows and improve user and customer experiences. * Writing clean, maintainable, and tested code, and participating in code reviews. What we're looking for * Strong proficiency with **React** , modern JavaScript/TypeScript, and **Vite** or equivalent tooling. * Back\-end experience (e.g. Node.js or similar) with RESTful or GraphQL APIs. * Experience integrating or working with **Salesforce** (APIs, webhooks, or data pipelines). * Good understanding of application architecture, performance, and security. * Comfort working in a small, fast\-moving startup, taking ownership from idea to deployment. Nice to have * Hands\-on experience with **AI** , LLMs, or building **chatbots** (support bots, internal assistants, or workflow automations). * Experience with CI/CD, cloud platforms, and DevOps practices. * Knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases and data modelling. * Previous work on tools for trades, field services, logistics, or other operations\-heavy environments.
