Job Description
**Job Overview**
Ward 18 is seeking a motivated and compassionate Junior Sister or Junior Charge Nurse to join our dedicated team, to ensure safety within our discharging unit.
The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills and demonstrate a genuine passion for caring for elderly patients. A key focus of the role will be to promote independence and build confidence, supporting patients in their journey towards returning home. You will work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high\-quality, person\-centred care to ensure safe discharge from hospital.
Main duties of the job
* As a junior sister you will take charge of the shift and work closely with the Ward manager and medical staff to plan and manage patient care and discharge planning.
* Excellent interpersonal skills are essential as you will be leading liaison with patients and their relatives.
* You should be a registered nurse, experienced in the care of elderly patients on both days and nights.
* Previous experience of working within a medical area is essential.

**Qualifications**
Essential criteria
* Current first or second\-level NMC Registration.
* Evidence of recent continuous professional development.
* Working towards gaining a teaching certificate.
* Mentorship Course /ENB 998\.
Desirable criteria
* Teaching certificate.
**Experience**
Essential criteria
* Cannulation and Phlebotomy.
* Evidence of high standards of clinical practice
* Portfolio
* Teaching experience.
**Skills**
Essential criteria
* Interest in Named/Primary Nursing, Nursing Research and Health Promotion.
* Awareness of current professional nursing issues.
* Effective communication skills (written \& verbal)
* Ability to work without supervision.
* Good interpersonal skills.
* Computer literate.
Desirable criteria
* Ability to adapt to change within working situations
