Junior Lawyer (Legal & Compliance)

Are you a lawyer ready to move beyond traditional courtroom practice? We are looking for a sharp, detail oriented Legal Officer to own our legal operations from statutory compliance to high stakes property documentation in one of Mumbai's fastest\-growing compliance firms. **Location:** Mumbai (Hybrid) **Compensation:** ₹4\.80L – ₹5\.40L PA **Reports to:** Directors **Experience:** 2 – 5 Years **What you'll do** * Serve as the legal subject matter expert on Bye Law interpretations under the MCS Act * Draft and finalize Agendas \& Minutes for AGMs and Managing Committee Meetings * Draft and vet NOCs for Sale, Gift, and Mortgage transactions; check Lien Registers for encumbrances * Verify Form 20(1\) \& 20(2\) and coordinate post\-approval transfers with the Billing team * Oversee remaking of Society Registers and issuance of Share Certificates * Prepare Work Orders, Appointment Letters, and SLAs for employees and service providers * Provide end\-to\-end election documentation support compliant with Election to Committee Rules * Review SGM minutes drafted by the field team for grammatical and legal precision **Who we're looking for** * LL.B. or LL.M. degree (Qualified Advocate) * 2–5 years of experience with strong working knowledge of the Maharashtra Co\-operative Societies (MCS) Act * Fluency in English and Marathi essential for dealing with society committees and local authorities * High attention to detail, strong legal drafting ability, and a results\-first mindset **Why join SMI Engine?** * 2X growth trajectory legal professionals in this role have doubled their compensation within 2 years * DDR Empanelment support we actively mentor you to get empaneled as Election Officer, GDCA, or Administrator * Career ownership as we scale, you'll have the opportunity to lead new legal service verticals and take on senior management roles
