BYP100 is a National, member\-based organization of Black 18\-35 year old
activists and organizers, dedicated to creating justice and freedom for all Black
people. We do this through building a network focused on transformative
leadership development, direct action organizing, advocacy, and political
education using a Black queer feminist lens.
Our work is generally centered on ending systems of anti\-Blackness and
emphasizing the urgency of protecting folks living on the margins of society. As
of 2022, BYP100 is a unionized workplace with BYP100 Workers United.
**This position is a bargaining unit position and is represented by the**
**Chicago and Midwest Regional Board, Workers United.**
**Position Overview**
BYP100 is seeking a Human Resources Manager to build and lead a people\-
centered HR function during a critical stage of organizational transition and
growth. This role is responsible for designing and implementing the systems,
policies, and practices that support staff across the organization.
The Human Resources Manager will partner closely with leadership to create
an HR infrastructure that reflects our values, supports a remote national team,
and ensures compliance while prioritizing care, equity, and accountability.
**Key Responsibilities**
Responsibilities may evolve based on organizational needs.
**Talent \& Workforce Management**
● Lead recruitment strategy, including sourcing, hiring, onboarding, and
orientation
● Build systems to attract and retain high\-performing, mission\-aligned
staff
● Ensure all job descriptions are current, compliant, and aligned with
organizational structure
● Support employee lifecycle processes including promotions, transitions,
and offboarding
● Conduct exit interviews and identify retention trends
**Employee Relations \& Culture**
● Serve as a trusted advisor to staff on HR policies, workplace concerns, and
conflict resolution
● Support performance management processes, including coaching
managers and addressing performance issues
● Facilitate conflict resolution, mediations, and grievance processes as
needed
● Promote a healthy, accountable, and values\-aligned organizational
culture
**HR Systems, Compliance \& Operations**
● Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and
employee handbook
● Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and
regulations
● Manage benefits administration, including enrollment and vendor
coordination
● Track HR metrics, analyze trends, and provide reports to leadership
● Maintain HR systems and ensure accurate employee data and
documentation
**Employee Engagement \& Experience**
● Design and implement employee engagement strategies for a remote
workforce
● Lead initiatives that build connection, belonging, and morale across staff
● Plan and support staff trainings, retreats, and internal development
opportunities
● Establish metrics to evaluate engagement and staff satisfaction
**Compensation \& Organizational Planning**
● Process payroll bi\-weekly; ensure timesheets by all are completed on a
weekly basis.
● Assess current staffing capacity, functions and talent; identify functional
● and/or staff gaps and make recommendations for modifications related
to organizational growth
● Manage benefits renewals
● Manage salary structures, benchmarking, and compensation reviews
● Partner with leadership on workforce planning and organizational design
● Support alignment between staffing structure and organizational
priorities
**Qualifications**
● 5\+ years of experience in Human Resources or related roles (HR
Generalist or Manager level)
● Experience working in nonprofit and/or social justice organizations
strongly preferred
● Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment law, and
compliance requirements
● Experience managing HR systems, benefits, and employee lifecycle
processes
● Demonstrated ability to support a remote workforce and foster
engagement
● Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to navigate sensitive and
complex situations
● High level of discretion and integrity when handling confidential
information
● Excellent organizational, communication, and problem\-solving skills
● Ability to build systems in evolving, fast\-paced environments
Preferred:
● PHR or SHRM\-CP certification
**Salary \& Benefits**
● Salary: $85,000
