Our mission is to support signatory First Nations in implementing the Anishinabek Nation Governance Agreement. We are committed to supporting First Nations in exercising their inherent control over governance affairs. **Position Summary** * We are seeking a dynamic Human Resources (HR) Manager to join our leadership team at B’Maakonigan. This key role involves overseeing HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and compliance, while ensuring alignment with our mission and strategy. The ideal candidate will foster a positive workplace culture and implement HR initiatives aligned with our support for First Nations who signed the Anishinabek Nation Governance Agreement Act. **What You Bring With You** : As the Human Resources (HR) Manager at B’Maakonigan, you will foster a collaborative and inclusive workplace culture aligned with our values. Your integrity, resilience, and commitment to our mission will be essential in shaping a thriving workplace at B’Maakonigan. **What You Will Be Doing:** As Human Resources Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping a healthy, high\-performing workplace culture. Your responsibilities will include: * Talent Acquisition \& Onboarding: Lead end\-to\-end recruitment efforts, develop inclusive sourcing strategies, and ensure smooth onboarding experiences that set new hires up for success. * Employee Relations \& Workplace Culture: Act as a trusted point of contact for staff concerns, mediate workplace conflicts, and foster a culture of transparency, respect, and open communication. * Performance \& Accountability Systems: Design and implement performance management frameworks that support continuous feedback, growth, and alignment with organizational objectives. * Workplace Investigations \& Conduct Standards: Oversee internal investigations with fairness and discretion, and provide guidance on best practices for workplace conduct and equity. * Training \& Development: Deliver training on respectful workplace practices, identify skill gaps, and coordinate professional development opportunities across departments. * Team Cohesion \& Role Clarity: Champion initiatives that strengthen team dynamics, clarify responsibilities, and support collaborative work environments. * Benefits \& Compliance Administration: Manage employee benefits programs and ensure full compliance with employment legislation, policies, and reporting standards. * HR Systems \& Data Integrity: Maintain and optimize HR information systems, ensuring data accuracy and alignment with regulatory requirements. * Vendor \& Partner Coordination: Source, evaluate, and manage external HR service providers to support recruitment, training, and other strategic initiatives. * Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with the CEO and Executive Team to align HR strategies with organizational goals, values, and long\-term planning. **Relevant Experience and Education:** **Minimum Qualifications:** * Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a closely related discipline. * Minimum of five years of progressive experience in human resources, including at least two years in a leadership or supervisory capacity. * Demonstrated expertise across core HR functions such as recruitment, workplace investigations, performance management, and regulatory compliance. * Strong proficiency in written communication, documentation practices, and data interpretation. * Proven ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality in sensitive personnel matters. * Must be legally eligible to work in Canada; occasional travel may be required. **Preferred Qualifications \& Assets:** * Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation. * Prior experience working with First Nations or Indigenous organizations, with cultural awareness and respect for Indigenous governance and protocols. * Formal training in conflict resolution, workplace investigations, or mediation. **Key Competencies:** * Exceptional communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage diverse teams and stakeholders. * Skilled in coaching, team\-building, and fostering a collaborative work environment. * Strategic problem\-solver who balances empathy with policy and organizational goals. * High ethical standards and sound judgment in managing confidential and complex HR issues.
