**Job Title:** Human Resources Business Partner
**Status:** Full\-Time (Temporary\- 1 year)
**Department:** Administration
**Reports to: Director of People and Culture**
**Location:** Head Office
**Hours/Week:** 37\.5hrs
**POSITION SUMMARY:**
Reporting to the Director of People and Culture, the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) plays a strategic and operational role in supporting leaders and employees across the organization. This position is responsible for managing employee relations matters, leading performance management practices, overseeing disability management, and developing and implementing a comprehensive Occupational Health \& Safety (OH\&S) framework.
The HRBP partners closely with leadership to ensure compliance with employment legislation, promote a safe and inclusive workplace, and support effective people management practices. The role also provides leadership and guidance on performance management processes to support employee development, accountability, and organizational effectiveness.
**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:**
Employee Relations \& Performance Management
* Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees on workplace issues, policies, employment practices, the collective agreement, and performance management matters.
* Lead and support the organization’s performance management processes, including goal setting, performance reviews, development planning, and performance improvement plans.
* Provide coaching and guidance to managers on addressing performance concerns, conducting performance conversations, and managing underperformance.
* Manage employee relations matters including investigations, conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance\-related issues.
* Conduct workplace investigations and ensure appropriate documentation and follow\-up.
* Support the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures related to employee relations and performance management.
* Promote fair, consistent, and legally compliant people management practices across the organization.
Disability Management
* Manage employee disability and return\-to\-work programs, including short\-term and long\-term disability cases.
* Administer and coordinate Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) claims, ensuring timely reporting and compliance with regulatory requirements.
* Partner with managers, employees, healthcare providers, and insurers to support safe and sustainable return\-to\-work plans.
* Monitor case progress, maintain documentation, and identify opportunities to reduce workplace injuries and lost time.
* Provide guidance to leaders on accommodation requirements and disability management best practices.
Occupational Health \& Safety (OH\&S)
* Lead the development and implementation of the organization’s Occupational Health \& Safety framework.
* Ensure compliance with applicable OH\&S legislation and regulatory requirements.
* Develop and maintain safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
* Support incident reporting, investigation, and corrective action processes.
* Partner with leadership and safety committees to promote a strong safety culture across the organization.
* Track safety metrics and recommend improvements to reduce risk and enhance workplace safety.
Strategic HR Partnership
* Collaborate with leaders to align HR practices with organizational objectives.
* Support leaders in building high\-performing teams through effective performance management, coaching, and employee development practices.
* Provide coaching and guidance on leadership, employee engagement, and workforce management.
* Analyze HR trends and data, including performance\-related metrics, to support decision\-making and continuous improvement.
* Contribute to HR initiatives related to talent management, organizational development, leadership development, and culture.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
* Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
* CHRP designation is considered an asset.
* Minimum 3–5 years of progressive HR experience, including employee relations, performance management, and disability management.
* Strong knowledge of employment legislation, WCB processes, and occupational health \& safety requirements.
* Experience developing or supporting OH\&S programs and frameworks.
* Experience working in a unionized environment.
* Must have access to reliable transportation, responsible for supporting staff across multiple locations within Calgary.

**WORKING CONDITIONS:**
This industry requires empathy for and an understanding of the needs of seniors and requires **a complete and current (within three months) Vulnerable Sector Check including a Criminal Background Check.** This position is a fast\-paced, challenging, working environment that provides complex care to seniors and other marginalized populations. This role involves occasional periods of extended hours to facilitate the complexity of the care provided in this building and requires high cognitive function to absorb complex information and stress associated with managing emotionally charged situations. The ability to deal with competing priorities and using one’s professional discernment to understand where the focus needs to be when being pulled in several directions.
