Job Description
We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and hands‑on **Human Resources Manager** to lead the full HR function for a growing, multi‑site organization operating across Western Canada and the United States. This role is ideal for an HR leader who excels at building structure, enhancing processes, supporting organizational growth, and guiding teams through periods of change and transformation. This position offers remote work flexibility, with periodic travel to the company’s office (approximately 5 hours from Calgary) for **3–5 consecutive days per month** . **Context \& Impact** Reporting to senior leadership, this role oversees HR operations across multiple locations and manages two direct reports (HR Coordinator and Payroll). The organization is entering a phase of modernization and expansion, requiring an HR professional capable of evaluating current practices, rebuilding processes, and implementing long‑term, scalable HR systems. You will play a key role in strengthening culture, ensuring compliance, supporting acquisitions, and partnering with leadership to shape the organization’s next phase of growth. **Key Responsibilities** **HR Leadership \& Strategy** * Lead the HR function and provide strategic guidance to executives and managers. * Assess existing HR processes and redesign workflows, documentation, and systems to improve efficiency and compliance. * Support organizational growth, including the integration of newly acquired entities, and lead the transition toward future HR systems. **Compliance \& Operations** * Ensure compliance with employment legislation, human rights, privacy regulations, WHMIS, and OH\&S standards across multiple provinces in Canada. * Oversee benefits administration, policy adherence, performance evaluation processes, and employee programs. * Supervise the HR Coordinator and Payroll functions. **Recruitment, Onboarding \& Employee Support** * Manage full‑cycle recruitment, including postings, screening, interviewing, offer letters, and onboarding. * Deliver safety orientations and training for all new hires. * Act as a trusted advisor to leaders on employee relations, performance topics, coaching, and team development. **Process Improvement \& Documentation** * Rebuild HR documentation, templates, and forms; modernize processes where required. * Partner with cross‑functional leaders and contribute to key HR and business initiatives. **Qualifications** * **7\+ years of progressive HR experience** with a successful track record of driving organizational change across multiple environments. * Strong knowledge of **Canadian employment laws** , human rights standards, WHMIS, and OH\&S regulations. * Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and enhance HR programs, policies, and processes. * **4\+ years of experience** coaching and supporting managers and leadership teams. * Ability to work both strategically and operationally—comfortable rolling up your sleeves when needed. **Personality Fit** * Hands‑on, adaptable, and energized by building or improving systems from the ground up. * Strategic mindset with the ability to evaluate current practices, propose realistic improvements, and implement them gradually. * Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, evolving environment with shifting priorities. * Collaborative, grounded, and motivated by teamwork and shared goals. * Confident leading change management and supporting a scaling, multi‑site organization. **What’s Offered** * **Base Salary:** Competitive and negotiable based on experience and seniority. * **Bonus:** Negotiable. * **Vacation:** 3 weeks (negotiable). * **Benefits:** * Health \& dental coverage effective immediately * RRSP matching after 1 year (employees may contribute immediately) * Additional wellness‑related benefits (e.g., enhanced coverage, acupuncture) * **Hours:** Full‑time, Monday to Friday, 8 am–5 pm (1‑hour lunch). **Practical Details** * **Work Model:** Remote, with **3–5 consecutive days per month on site** .
