Reports to: Chief QSS \& Operations Officer
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES:
**1\. Operational \& Service Delivery Leadership**
* Oversee daily ground handling operations to ensure service delivery meets airline contracts and SLAs.
* Maintain operational performance within approved budget levels.
* Monitor station KPIs and implement corrective actions to address performance gaps.
* Ensure all activities comply with Samsic procedures, airline standards, and airport regulations.
* Attend and complete all mandatory company and airline training.
* Other duties as assigned.
**2\. Safety, Security \& Compliance**
* Uphold Samsic’s safety culture and ensure compliance with corporate Health \& Safety policies.
* Ensure adherence to Federal regulations, GTAA requirements, and international aviation safety/security standards.
* Maintain readiness for audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.
* Promote proactive hazard identification, reporting, and continuous improvement.
**3\. People Leadership \& Workforce Management**
* Lead, coach, and develop station management and frontline teams.
* Manage multiple operational teams in a unionized environment.
* Oversee staffing, training, succession planning, and performance management.
* Negotiate staff agreements with union representatives.
* Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence.
**4\. Stakeholder \& Relationship Management**
Serve as the primary point of contact for:
* Airline station managers
* GTAA operations leadership
* CATSA, CBSA, and airport security officials
* Union representatives
* Airport partners and service providers.
Represent Samsic in airport committees, operational meetings, and customer reviews.
Maintain strong, collaborative relationships to support operational success.
**5\. Commercial \& Financial Management**
* Manage station P\&L, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
* Provide operational and financial reports, performance metrics, and service delivery measurements.
* Support commercial negotiations with airline customers and vendors.
* Ensure operational performance aligns with financial targets and contractual obligations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* A university degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a closely related field is required. Advanced qualifications are considered an asset; equivalent work experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
* A minimum of 10 years’ progressive leadership experience in a comparable operational environment is essential. Airport Experience is an asset.
* Demonstrated success in achieving operational and financial objectives.
* Proven experience managing large, multi\-disciplinary teams (100\+ employees).
* Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, including experience collaborating with diverse internal and external partners. (including unionized environment).
* Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities are required.
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is essential.
* Bilingualism or proficiency in an additional language is considered an asset.
* International work experience and cross\-cultural competencies are assets.
* Willingness and ability to travel throughout Canada as business needs require.
* Demonstrated ability to lead by example, modelling professionalism and integrity at all times.
* Strong critical thinking and interpersonal skills; seeks to understand others before drawing conclusions.
