Job Description
**Skill Set: GL Accounting Manager** **Roll Type: FTE** **Days per week: 5 days** **Language: English \& Urdu** **Contract: B2B/Freelance** **Location: Karachi, Pakistan** **Report To: Regional Finance Manager** **Key Responsibilities** **Financial Accounting \& Reporting** •Oversee monthly and annual closing processes in line with group timelines and local statutory requirements. •Ensure accurate maintenance of the general ledger and related sub\-ledgers. •Ensure the accuracy, quality, efficiency, and completion of all balance sheet reconciliations and identify and communicate findings. •Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce monthly financial reports or statements. **Statutory \& Regulatory Compliance** •Prepare the annual statutory financial statements, including reconciliation between corporate and statutory books. •Oversee the submission of statutory financial statements and coordinate the annual audit process. **Tax Compliance \& Reporting** •Ensure accurate and timely preparation of tax returns for our entities in Pakistan and Gulf region. •Oversee VAT, corporate tax, withholding tax, payroll tax and other relevant filings, ensuring compliance with local tax laws and international tax principles. •Coordinate with external tax advisors and the regional tax manager to address tax issues. •Maintain proper documentation and reporting in compliance with local tax requirements. •Manage and oversee tax audits and inspections conducted by local authorities. •Coordinate the preparation and submission of requested documents for tax inspections. •Lead tax dispute resolution efforts during audits and inspections, collaborating with tax authorities, auditors, and external consultants. **Team Leadership \& Coordination** •Supervise and mentor 2\-3 accountants. •Handle personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc. •Coordinate closely with regional and group finance teams. •Liaise with internal and external auditors, tax consultants, banks, and government authorities. **Other Key Activities** •Support budget and forecasting activities. •Support internal project to have process narrative documented and key preventive and detective controls in place for major financial statement cycles. •Perform other duties as assigned by the Finance manager. •Supervise payroll, billing, receivables, payables, cash processes. •Ensure accuracy and update of banking mandate. **Ad\-hoc Tasks** •Provide support in managing ad\-hoc files and tasks as required, offering flexibility to adapt to additional responsibilities as they arise. **Required Skills** •In\-depth understanding of accounting principles (IFRS). •Advanced proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office. •Hands\-on experience with preparing annual financial statements, dealing with external auditors, tax audits, managing external consultants, and working on tax\-related accounting reconciliations. •Proficiency in English language (both spoken and written). **Personal Attributes** •Strong analytical and problem\-solving skills. •Exceptional communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams. •Detail\-oriented with the ability to manage complex tax issues. •Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities. •Proactive and strategic thinker with a focus on continuous improvement. **Education** •Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related fields. •A master’s degree, ACCA or CPA is preferred. **Experience** •At least 15 years of accounting and tax experience, preferably in Pakistan operations. •Strong expertise in accounting integration and tax compliance (VAT, income tax, withholding tax).
