As a remote\-first team, we are building the next generation of financial infrastructure for a globally connected workforce. **About the Role** We’re hiring an Engineering Lead to own the architecture, scalability, and reliability of a financial\-grade platform powering cross\-border payments, wallets, and ledger systems. This is a hands\-on leadership role — you’ll write production code while setting technical direction, building systems from first principles, and leading a small but high\-performing team. **What You’ll Own** * Lead architecture and technical decision\-making across backend and frontend systems * Build and scale a modular Node.js/TypeScript backend for payments, wallets, and ledger infrastructure * Design and maintain a reliable, auditable ledger across USD, USDC, and local currencies * Own integrations with third\-party providers (custodial wallets, payment aggregators, banking rails) * Ensure system reliability, uptime, and incident response for financial\-grade infrastructure * Partner closely with product and founders to translate requirements into technical systems * Lead and mentor engineers — code reviews, hiring, and raising the technical bar **Must Have** * 5\+ years of backend engineering experience, including 2\+ years in a senior or lead role * Deep expertise in Node.js and TypeScript * Strong experience with PostgreSQL and ORMs (TypeORM or similar) * Proven experience building and scaling production\-grade REST APIs * Strong understanding of financial systems (ledgers, reconciliation, double\-entry bookkeeping) * Experience integrating complex payment, banking, or financial APIs * Strong security fundamentals (encryption, secrets management, audit trails) **Nice to Have** * Experience with blockchain or stablecoin systems (e.g., USDC) * Familiarity with custodial wallet providers or payment aggregators * Experience in cross\-border payments or remittance products * Exposure to emerging markets (Pakistan, Bangladesh, etc.) * Familiarity with React.js * Experience building 0→1 systems in a startup environment **The Mindset We’re Hiring For** * You write clean, maintainable, well\-documented code * You make strong architectural decisions without perfect information * You treat financial data with extreme attention to detail * You’re comfortable being both an IC and a technical leader * You thrive in fast\-moving, ambiguous environments **Why WhizPay** At WhizPay, you will build the future of global payments and stablecoin infrastructure while solving high\-impact problems end\-to\-end.
