The organization’s focus on continuous learning, technological advancement, and diversity makes it a dynamic workplace committed to employee growth and client success. **About The Role** Aon is seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join the Life Solutions team within the Strategy and Technology Group (STG) at Aon Reinsurance in Toronto, Ontario. This is a new position designed to support the development and integration of advanced artificial intelligence solutions, specifically Reinforcement Learning (RL) and neural networks, into Aon’s PathWise™ platform. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying sophisticated models that enhance multi\-period investment optimization, dynamic pricing, lapse prediction, fraud detection, and other AI\-driven use cases aligned with the company's strategic priorities. Reporting directly to the Director of Consulting, you will collaborate with cross\-functional teams, including actuarial, investment, and risk management colleagues, to translate complex business requirements into innovative technical solutions. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of applying machine learning techniques to complex financial and actuarial challenges, driving innovation and value for clients worldwide. **Qualifications** * Minimum of 2\+ years of experience in data science or applied machine learning, with a strong preference for RL/DL experience * Hands\-on experience with Reinforcement Learning and Deep Learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar * Proficiency in Python programming, including libraries like NumPy, pandas, and SciPy * Experience with time series analysis, stochastic modeling, or Monte Carlo simulations, particularly in asset liability management (ALM) or risk modeling contexts * Educational background in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, or related quantitative fields (graduate degree preferred) * Understanding of financial and insurance concepts such as ALM, portfolio optimization, risk measures, and policyholder behavior is advantageous * Strong analytical, problem\-solving, and communication skills * A collaborative attitude with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams **Responsibilities** * Design, develop, and test RL and Deep Learning models to support dynamic investment optimization within PathWise * Prototype and explore additional AI use cases such as dynamic pricing, lapse and surrender prediction, and fraud detection aligned with business priorities * Evaluate various RL and DL algorithms for performance, stability, and scalability on GPU infrastructure * Integrate RL/DL capabilities into the PathWise platform, creating a standardized and extensible framework * Conduct back testing, scenario analysis, and sensitivity testing to validate model performance under diverse economic and behavioral scenarios * Develop explainability tools to enhance stakeholder understanding and trust in model outputs * Collaborate with actuarial, investment, and risk management teams to translate business needs into effective AI solutions * Document modeling methodologies, assumptions, and limitations for technical review and client communication * Contribute to internal and external thought leadership through whitepapers, research projects, and conference presentations * Stay updated on advancements in RL, DL, and quantum computing to identify innovation opportunities and future enhancements **Benefits** * Competitive salary range of CAD $74,500 – CAD $96,000, commensurate with experience and skills * Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and wellness programs * Generous incentive earning opportunities * Inclusive and diverse work environment that promotes professional growth * Flexible working arrangements and work/life balance support * Global Wellbeing Days to encourage personal wellness * Continuous learning culture with access to training, development programs, and industry events * Opportunities to participate in cutting\-edge research and innovation projects Equal Opportunity Aon is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where all colleagues feel valued and empowered.
