We are currently looking for a Counsel, Legislation and Government Relations in the United States.** This role is a strategic legal and government relations position, focused on advancing the company’s legislative and regulatory objectives while providing broad legal support across the business. You will engage with federal and state legislators, executive agencies, and other stakeholders to shape policy and regulatory decisions that impact the organization. The role blends traditional legal responsibilities with high\-impact advocacy, requiring you to translate complex legal and regulatory frameworks into actionable business strategies. You will advise cross\-functional teams, manage external counsel, and lead outreach campaigns while operating in a fast\-paced, rapidly scaling startup environment. This position offers the opportunity to influence both business and public policy, contributing directly to the company’s growth and mission\-driven objectives. Travel across the United States may be required. **Accountabilities** * Identify and prioritize legislative and regulatory goals across federal and state levels. * Engage with legislators, regulators, and lobbyists to draft, advance, and influence legislation and regulations. * Build coalitions with external stakeholders to promote aligned policy objectives. * Monitor and interpret relevant legislation, regulations, and industry trends, providing actionable insights to internal teams. * Advise business teams—including Product, Sales, and People Ops—on legal and regulatory compliance, risk management, and policy implementation. * Manage contracts and deliverables with outside counsel, ensuring alignment with business needs and budget. * Lead external relations and advocacy campaigns to advance the company’s strategic goals. * Handle a variety of legal matters, including HR, contractor classification, and state registration requirements. **Requirements** * Juris Doctor (JD) degree and admission to a state bar. * Minimum 5 years of relevant legal and/or government relations experience, including in\-house, law firm, lobbying firm, or high\-level government roles. * At least 2 years of experience working directly in state or federal government. * Proven experience engaging legislators and government regulators effectively. * Strong communication, writing, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence diverse stakeholders. * Ability to manage projects independently, take ownership, and solve complex problems proactively. * Comfort operating in a fast\-paced, rapidly scaling startup environment with shifting priorities. * Experience working cross\-culturally and with diverse, global teams. * Willingness and ability to travel across the United States. **Nice To Have** * Experience with labor and employment law, supporting HR and compliance functions. * Track record of drafting legislation, regulations, or amendments that were enacted into law. **Benefits** * Competitive base salary: $190,000 \- $220,000, plus discretionary annual bonus. * Equity compensation aligned with role and company performance. * Health, dental, and vision coverage with options for dependent coverage. * Paid parental leave and flexible vacation policies. * Professional development support and learning opportunities. * Travel opportunities and exposure to high\-level strategic initiatives. * Collaborative and mission\-driven work environment in a fast\-growing, innovative company. **Why Apply Through Jobgether?** We use an **AI\-powered matching process** to ensure your application is reviewed quickly, objectively, and fairly against the role's core requirements.
