Job Description
**Job Summary:**
The Associate General Manager – Ferro Alloys will be responsible for end\-to\-end plant operations, with a strong focus on Submerged Arc Furnace (SAF) performance, production efficiency, cost optimization, and safety. This role requires strategic leadership to drive operational excellence, meet production targets, and ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
**Key Responsibilities:**
**1\. Plant Operations \& Furnace Management**
* Lead and oversee continuous operation of Submerged Arc Furnaces (SAF).
* Monitor critical parameters such as load, voltage, current, electrode position, and temperature.
* Ensure maximum furnace efficiency, uptime, and productivity.
**2\. Production Planning \& Target Achievement**
* Drive achievement of daily, monthly, and annual production targets.
* Develop and implement production plans aligned with business goals.
* Optimize raw material utilization and minimize losses.
**3\. Process Optimization \& Cost Efficiency**
* Identify opportunities for process improvements and energy optimization.
* Implement cost reduction initiatives without compromising quality.
* Enhance furnace performance through data\-driven decision\-making.
**4\. Manpower \& Leadership Management**
* Lead, mentor, and manage plant teams across shifts.
* Ensure effective manpower planning, deployment, and skill development.
* Build a high\-performance and accountable work culture.
**5\. Safety, Health \& Environment (SHE)**
* Ensure strict adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements.
* Promote a zero\-harm safety culture.
* Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and corrective actions.
**6\. Maintenance Coordination**
* Coordinate with maintenance teams for preventive and breakdown maintenance.
* Ensure high equipment availability and reduced downtime.
**7\. Quality Assurance**
* Ensure consistent product quality as per customer and industry standards.
* Drive quality improvement initiatives and root cause analysis.
**8\. Cross\-Functional Coordination**
* Collaborate with procurement, logistics, quality, and finance teams.
* Ensure smooth material flow and operational alignment.
**9\. Compliance \& Governance**
* Ensure compliance with statutory, environmental, and industrial regulations.
* Maintain audit readiness and documentation.
**10\. Reporting \& MIS**
* Prepare and present operational reports, KPIs, and performance dashboards to senior management.
* Analyze data for strategic decision\-making.
**11\. Innovation \& Continuous Improvement**
* Drive digitalization, automation, and process innovation initiatives.
* Implement best practices and benchmarking in ferro alloy production.
**Qualifications:**
* Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering.
* MBA (Operations/General Management) preferred.
**Experience:**
* 12–18\+ years of experience in ferro alloys / steel industry.
* Strong experience in Submerged Arc Furnace (SAF) operations is mandatory.
* Proven leadership experience in plant operations or production management.
