**About the opportunity:**
Leading a team of sales representatives, the Area Sales Manager plans and directs all activities of the field retail sales force in an identified area including coaching and people development. The position is responsible for delivering KPI Results, distribution, display and volume objectives in a designated territory or at a retail customer level.
**The attributes we are looking for:**
* Lead and manage Retail Field team by hiring, reviewing performance and providing feedback, evaluating/executing training and development needs for Sales Representatives, and providing work direction.
* Develop and execute annual territory plans that include volume, distribution and display objectives with Field Sales team that matches account plans and fits with regional coverage models.
* Manage trade/promotional spending with customers by offering incentives through agreed contracts or agreements with independent customers that are presented and approved by Trade Marketing. The programs are designed to grow overall Lactalis volume while bringing additional exposure to Lactalis brands.
* Develop with the assistance of the regional Category Information Manager category reviews to increase customer profitability while providing additional distribution, display and category mix opportunities for Lactalis.
* Prepare and manage sales forecasts for Promotional activity through the use of monthly customer volume trend reports to reduce out\-of\-stock and to minimize customer disruption.
* Work with Account and Field team through information gathered from Nielsen and specific account reports to benchmark and obtain corporate distribution objectives on all key pillar items as identified by senior management.
* Provide competitive field information to internal Lactalis functional groups that will assist in new product development, customer business plans and strategies.
* Develop and maintain strong customer relations at store level through regular work with Lactalis Field Sales team in their territories as per Lactalis’s required frequency described in the yearly KPI’S.
* Document and report competitive activity to Regional Sales Manager on all new product launches, feature selling price items or point\-of\-sale, and report regular selling price issues and plan\-o\-gram items to the designated Key Account Manager.
* Participate in team sales projects such as returns reductions and product launches as required to ensure timely execution and success.
* Ensure the retail sales team is aware of their KPI’S and provide guidance and data to ensure the team achieve their KPI targets.
**What you will bring:**
* Basic knowledge of category management
* Strong negotiation and problem\-solving skills, good communication skills, ability to create and present customer business plans
* Leadership and coaching skills to develop and train retail team
* Proficient with standard office computer technology such as Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
* Ability to develop an effective planning and objective setting model for the field team
* Ability to interact between Lactalis functional teams to be effective and efficient at a customer level

**Compensation:**
As part of our commitment to fairness, trust, and transparency and our ambition to be an Employer of Choice, the base salary range for this position is
**$88,400 – $110,500\+**
.
