Accountant

**Due to impending retirement (end of June) of our current Finance Manager we're looking to recruit a replacement from Mid to Late May.** **Location:** Sunderland **Job Type:** Flexible Working \- Office based 24hrs per week **Salary:** £25 \- £30k depending on experience **About Us** We are a specialist renewables business seeking a Company Accountant to manage our day\-to\-day financial operations. This is a key role within the company, offering the opportunity to work closely with management and contribute to the financial health and strategic growth of the business. **The Role** The Company Accountant will be responsible for overseeing all accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance, and supporting business decision\-making. **Key Responsibilities** * Manage daily accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable and bank reconciliations * Maintain the general ledger and perform monthly reconciliations * Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports * Prepare payroll data for outsourced payroll processing and related statutory payments * Prepare and submit VAT, tax, and other statutory returns * Manage cash flow and monitor company expenses * Maintain credit control * Assist with budgeting and financial forecasting * Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and banks **Requirements** * Professional qualification preferred * Minimum 3 years accounting experience, preferably in a small business environment * Strong knowledge of accounting principles and tax regulations * Proficiency in accounting software, preferably Microsoft 365 Business Central * Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills * Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities **What We Offer** * Competitive salary (commensurate with experience) * Supportive and collaborative work environment * Opportunity to play a key role in a growing business If you are a motivated accounting professional looking to make a meaningful impact in a small company environment, we would love to hear from you.
