**Accountant**
Position Summary
ODRA Road Sweepers is seeking a skilled and detail‑oriented Accountant to support the company's Canadian and U.S. accounting operations. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting regulatory compliance in both Canada and the United States, and assisting management with reliable financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with ASPE/IFRS and U.S. GAAP, cross‑border transactions, and multi‑entity accounting environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain accurate general ledger records for Canadian and U.S. entities, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
* Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year‑end financial statements in accordance with Canadian accounting standards (ASPE or IFRS) and U.S. GAAP
* Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including vendor payments, invoicing, and collections
* Perform monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations
* Handle cross‑border and intercompany transactions, including reconciliations and eliminations
* Assist with sales tax compliance, including GST/HST, PST, and U.S. state and local sales tax filings
* Support preparation of information for Canadian and U.S. corporate income tax filings and liaise with external tax advisors
* Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
* Prepare audit schedules and support internal and external audits
* Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with company accounting policies
* Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and system efficiencies
**Required Qualifications**
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
* 5\+ years of accounting experience, including exposure to both Canadian and U.S. accounting is required.
* CPA designation (Canada or U.S.) or active CPA candidate is required.
* Working knowledge of ASPE or IFRS and U.S. GAAP
* Experience with Canadian and U.S. tax concepts (sales tax, income tax support)
* Proficiency with accounting software/ERPs (e.g., QuickBooks)
* Strong Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, reconciliations)
* High attention to detail, accuracy, and organization
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
**Preferred Qualifications**
* Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or heavy‑equipment environments
* Experience with multi‑currency accounting and foreign exchange impacts
* Familiarity with intercompany agreements and transfer pricing basics
* Experience working with external auditors and tax advisors in both countries
