Accountant Full\-time, Permanent **Location:** Mississauga, ON \- Hybrid 3 days in office **Hours:** Monday to Friday, 40\-hour work week **Salary:** Up to $85 \+ 9% Bonus Department: Finance – Finance Accounting Reporting Manager: Controller **About Our Client** Our client is a leading Canadian supplier of automotive, heavy\-duty, and industrial products. They are currently seeking a Accountant to join their finance team and play a key role in financial reporting, cost analysis, and business support. **Why Join Our Client’s Team?** * Competitive total compensation — aligned with experience and expertise * Comprehensive health and dental benefits * Mental wellness support * Employer contribution to retirement savings * Fitness \& wellness reimbursement * Educational assistance and professional development support * Paid time off including vacation and personal days * Community involvement initiatives * A collaborative and inclusive workplace culture featuring: * Team events and celebrations * Holiday gatherings * Lunch \& Learns * Employee recognition programs **The Opportunity** The Accountant role operates in the general accounting team, working closely with the General Accounting Manager as well as with business units. **What You Will Do:** * Responsible for journal entry preparation and month end close activities. * Prepare and maintain account and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring assigned assets and liabilities are fairly stated. * Perform bank reconciliations of the CAD and USD bank accounts * Maintain the fixed asset subledger * In coordination with the General Accounting Manager, prepare variance analysis for assigned cost centres (actual vs. budget and actual vs. forecast) and investigate and resolve discrepancies with department managers. * Provide support with preparation of financial statement working papers, analysis and commentary. * Coordinate assigned aspects of financial reporting, developing a sound understanding overall business operations, underlying areas of GAAP and budget assumptions, ensuring results are fairly stated and can be clearly explained. * Effectively liaise and provide day to day accounting support to assigned business units. In coordination with General Accounting Manager, deliver financial reporting and analysis for assigned business units. **What We Need:** Competencies: * Strong multi\-tasking and prioritizing abilities to meet time sensitive deadlines and fluctuating work demands. * Detail oriented and display a high degree of accuracy. * Flexible and able to make independent decisions quickly. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate concepts or information. * Professional attitude together with a drive to get things done through collaboration and teamwork. * High aptitude for learning new concepts and managing in a dynamic environment. * Ability to understand business operations and demonstrate value through partnerships within the organization. **Education/Experience:** * College Diploma or University Degree in Business Administration, Commerce or a related discipline required. Strong preference for an accounting designation in progress. * 2 to 3 years of previous general accounting experience. Previous experience with financial analysis required. * Strong Excel skills and experience with Microsoft Office applications. * Previous experience with Microsoft Dynamix preferred.
