**About the Role**
We are looking for a well\-rounded accountant who can support both project and corporate accounting functions. The ideal candidate brings deep construction accounting expertise, strong analytical capabilities, and hands\-on experience with financial reporting and audit facilitation. A background in Big 4 or public accounting is required — we value professionals who are organized, detail\-oriented, and bring a high standard of rigor to everything they do.
**Responsibilities**
* Full\-Cycle Project Accounting: Manage end\-to\-end project accounting, including preparation and review of monthly balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
* Job Costing \& Budget Analysis: Track project budgets, cost structures (materials, labor, equipment), and change orders. Proactively identify potential cost overruns through diligent monitoring and variance analysis.
* Work\-in\-Progress (WIP) Reporting: Prepare and present WIP schedules, cost\-to\-complete estimates, and percentage\-of\-completion figures; coordinate with external auditors on WIP documentation.
* Corporate Accounting: Oversee general ledger maintenance, month\-end and year\-end close processes, account reconciliations, and intercompany transactions.
* Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and management reports for internal stakeholders and joint venture partners.
* Audit Preparation \& Management: Lead year\-end audit processes, including coordinating with third\-party accounting firms, preparing supporting schedules, and responding to auditor inquiries.
* Internal Controls: Establish, document, and monitor internal controls to ensure data accuracy, regulatory compliance, and fraud prevention.
* Cash Management \& Bank Reconciliations: Perform bank reconciliations and assist with cash flow forecasting and liquidity management.
* Process Improvement: Identify and implement efficiencies in accounting workflows, reporting processes, and system utilization.
* Reconcile company credit card expenses.
* Manage accounts payable, mortgage payments, project disbursements, and reconciliations for construction loans, reimbursable expenses, and other project\-related expenses.
* Implement processes and best practices for department.
* Assisting with processing subcontractor, vendor, and consultant requisitions, compile loan draws and G702/3s, and collaborate with the construction PM team to review and approve accounting requests.
**Qualifications**
* Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA license or active candidacy strongly preferred.
* Experience: 5\+ years of relevant accounting experience, with a focus on construction or project\-based accounting; prior experience at a Big 4 or public accounting firm required.
* Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with construction contracts, AIA billing, lien waivers, and project close\-out procedures is a plus.
**Required Skills**
* Software Proficiency: Expert\-level proficiency in Quickbooks required; experience with other accounting software platforms such as Yardi, Sage Intact, Buildium is a plus.
* Advanced Excel: High proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial modeling; experience with Power Query or macros is a plus.
* Analytical Mindset: Strong ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and translate findings into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders.
* Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy and thoroughness in all financial work, with a disciplined approach to documentation and record\-keeping.
* Communication: Ability to clearly present financial information to non\-financial stakeholders including investors, partners, and project managers.
* Organization \& Prioritization: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously in a fast\-paced, project\-driven environment.
* Proactive Problem\-Solving: Ability to anticipate issues — particularly cost overruns or reporting gaps — and address them before they escalate.
**Pay range and compensation package**
Salary starts at $115,000 and benefits include healthcare with an Employer contribution (subject to applicable exclusions and limitations), access to commuter benefits, and a 401(k) with Employer match.
